Places to go flat out fast?

North Shore Drive Expressway--North of Duluth MN. About five miles of passing lane that is straight. I did over 110 on my Yamaha Venture (V-Max engine) back in the 80's. I passed the "speeders" like they were standing still. Don't get caught by the Highway Patrol though. :2thumbs::2thumbs:

Oh, I want to avoid the constables on patrol. Where I live they are behind every bush. I mean a place that is sanctioned for...Ludicrous speed.

Not sanctioned, but I-69 east of Lapeer, MI has a stretch 5 miles or better, no exits, no entrances, straight and small rolling hills. Do not ask what we did with a Ninja there.

We've got a few pretty long straight stretches of road here in Aust that are ideal for flat out fast runs - not too handy to Chicago tho! One of our longest & best stretches of road is just over 90 miles long with no bends, no hills at all, just a loooong flat straight part of the road between Balladonia & Caiguna out on the Nullabor; it's even fairly high quality aircraft landing strip smooth (in fact it sometimes does get used as a landing strip & has all the markings, lights, & signs permanently set in place in a few spots along its length!) and it's a fair way from the nearest fully manned full time Cop Shop too - by a couple of hundred miles!! There are a couple of 'occasionally manned' Cop Shops that are a bit closer, but it's fairly easy to find out when they are empty or when the attending Cops are at the other end of their 'beat', since their beats cover a couple of thousand square miles; so it's not all that hard to wait 'til they are so far away that they have no chance of getting back to where you are in time to catch you!! :thumbup:

Or you could try our Aussie 'SpeedWeek' on Lake Gairdner, where the Dry Lake Racers Australia (DLRA) Assoc run an annual 'straight line' speed event on 'the big white dyno'!! It happens at the end of February each year (rain permitting) so there's one coming up, & so far, this year is apparently still looking good! Lots of fast bikes & cars attend, & everyone 'racing' there for their first time hasta pass their 125mph & 175mph Rookie Runs before they are allowed out onto the 'Fast' track, where this year I think there'll be a Canadian/North American attempt at 500 mph....

If you ever go to Canada, don't be mistaking the speed limit signs for miles per hour. I did, returning from East Boston, into New York, through Canada to Michigan. I saw signs which read, 60, 80, then 100. No problem. Couldn't figure out why everyone else was going so slow. In Idaho now, and the speed limit on areas of 84, are 80 mph. I'm sure the Spyder would, or could cruise all day long at 80 or 100, but being older, no longer see the need to rush, anywhere.

We were there a few years back. It is the only road that I know of that you can lay in the middle of the road for a very long time and not worry about getting run over. I know because I did it for the heck of it.

You can also ride 4 abreast for quite a while and not worry about oncoming traffic -- so I've heard
