• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pinlock shields, LEGIT for bad weather

I got one setup last week, I have had fog city inserts and others over the last 6 years of riding up here and the pinlock system is by far the best; clear, NO FOG, easy to use, easy to change and it can be upgraded with another shield on the outside.

IF you have not road when it is under 40 F or anything with snow you would know that you spend more time that you should with fog issues.

Anyone else use these?

I have, and they are great. I wanted to get one for my newest Arai, but on the new shields with the larger eye port, the pinlock (even the larger one) interferes with your line of vision. As a result, I switch to my Scorpion helmet for cold weather use. Best fog-free shield I have ever owned. Now if I could find a reliable way to keep my glasses from fogging.

Word of note: LOVE the Pinlock inserts, but you'll still get fog around them, and if the insert is slipping/warped/debris's stuck between it, you can have an air gap that will allow it to fog between the insert and the visor.

Basically, they're awesome, I'll never buy another helmet without one, but be aware that the inserts can stand to be replaced from time to time, and when it gets REALLY cold out you may still want to apply your favorite anti-fog remedy around the insert to help keep your peripheral vision intact.

Fog

One of the issues that drove me to buy a Shoei Multitec last weekend was the fog. I picked a Fog City shield, and for $18, was a rather inexpensive way to fix that. The pinlock is more expensive and has the advantage of getting different ones, but for the riding I do...

BTW, its also a good idea to buy some fog free cloths at you local ski shop and keep them handy.

SethO,

I'm trying decide between the pin lock for my Arai and the electronic visor from Tricled. If I get the Arai pin lock and insert, I'll get the dark insert. My plan is, if I am riding at night, to remove the insert and just ride with the pin lock shield. What I am wondering is, do you think the insert can be removed on a daily basis and still hold tight to the shield when used?

visor

I purchased an additional visor with the helmet that gradually darkens as you look up. I commute east-west everyday and during certain times of the year (like now) the sun is directly in your eyes. The visor provides me with the flexibility I need. If I had planned riding at night, I would switch to the clear one that came with the helmet. I installed Fog City on both.

I use Fog City for my Arai Profile helmet. I was originally planning on using the PinLock system, but it was out of stock at the time I was making the purchase. I've been happy with the Fog City. It does encompass my entire field of vision, which is nice. I'm happy to see a report on the Pin Lock. I was wondering well it worked.

I mostly use the Fog City for riding in wet weather, so I installed it into a yellow visor. I find that the yellow seems to improve visibility in wet or misty conditions.

YMMV
