Pinging Noise When Spyder is Turned Off

My 2013 RT-S makes pinging noises when I shut it off. It doesn’t matter how long it is on, once I turn it off it starts making noises. I'm not sure if it is coming from the engine, the exhaust or both. Is this normal or is it something I should have checked out? None of my 2 wheel bikes ever did this so I am a little concerned.

Normal. Throttle body shutting down. It lasts around 45 minutes. It's in the manual.

On my 2013 STS, the shut down noise is a high pitch whine. Pinging noise sounds more like the engine/exhaust cooling down. But you say it happens even if you barely run the motor. Is it running long enough to build up significant heat? Even 3 to 5 minutes may be long enough to get it hot enough to ping as the metal expands and contracts during cool down. My RT does it just by turning the key to turn on the electronics. As soon as I turn it off, it will do the humming noice.

Cooling exhaust or engine is more of a 'Tink' than a 'Ping'. Scientific terminology aside, it's probably hot exhaust cooling.

Bullant, as others mentioned the electric hum is something different and that will happen as every time the key is turned off.

If you have low mileage these noises can be more noticeable. Everything is settling in and will diminish as time goes by. Right now any heat will give you engine and exhaust sounds. Later it will only be after long rydes. The shutting down process will always be there and the sound will depend on the ear and the ability to put it into words...tink, ping, hum, whine, whurr, whistle, etc..don't worry, if there is nothing on the floor when you back out your good to go...hyea:
