• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

PIG...

I am not a fan of canned hunts. I don't even like bating.

I agree with you on the canned hunts. Baiting where leagle is no different than hunting under a apple tree. I have put many, many hrs in a bear stand in Maine. Its not like you toss out some donuts and pick your critter.

Is baiting "legal"?
How about "ethical"?
Would you do it?

These are quesitons that you may have to wrestle with, at some point in a lifetime spent outdoors in pursuit of game animals...
If the game laws allow for baiting in your State; question one is already out of the way.
If they don't... that pretty well gets rid of ALL of the questions! :D
Is it "ethical"?
What does your conscience tell you?
"Ethics", are the guy who stares back at you from the mirror. Only you can answer to him, and only he can tell you whether your decisions have been right or wrong...
I'll bait when it's legal...

No question, if it isn't legal, its wrong. Each person has to decide if its something they want to do.

For me I guess it depends on what im hunting. I cant see hunting turkeys over bait when the challange is to call them in. I guess some could say the same about deer.

Would you use scent attractants?
They're legal here in New York...
Baiting isn't...
Is there an moral difference, between luring them by their noses, or by their appetites?
Ethics is Advanced Sportsmanship! :2thumbs:

I'm not against bating. I just wouldn't do it. In NC it's illegal to bait game birds and bear. The only place you can't bait deer is game lands. Baiting with processed foods is illegal anywhere in the state.

I have uesed sent attractions w little success. I do use a sent loc suit and sprays with very good results.

Would you set up a hunting blind in an apple orchard? :dontknow:
And is that any different, than throwing a pailful of Macintoshes under a pine tree?

Fun; isn't it? nojoke

You too?
You know what I've found works pretty well as a cover scent?
Use your boot to scuff up some dirt under a pine tree, and then break-off a couple of small branches...

Ground blinds are great, I like bow hunting out of em. Pine makes a great cover sent. But isnt that cheating?

 I've got to admit, that I've wished for "more tree", on several occassions... :yikes:
That's why I stopped going up beyond thrity feet; I get dizzy from the thin air up there! :roflblack:

30':yikes:... better be a big tree and a big stand. At that altitude you could just drop the arrow on 'em. Im comfy around 18'

I DO keep a HUGE coffee thermos right nearby at all times... :D

The last two deer I've taken, were only seven, and nine yards out from my stand... I was further away from the ground, than they were from me! :yikes:
