Pics of $3 Ebay LED Fender Bulbs

clueless

New member
Just installed my $3 total for both SHIPPED :2thumbs: from ebay LED bulbs from Hong Kong. Easy to install. just pull out old incandescent bulb and plug new... if they don't light rotate the bulb 180 and plug in again. They are 5 LEDs/bulb and fit nicely in the fender. there are 5 LEDS. up/down/left/right/top facing on each bulb. the fender light just slides up and then you lift bottom of lamp housing and pull out slightly and slide back down and it will pop out. then rotate the wiring housing and you can get to the bulb. the lens comes off.

The incandescent bulb was a yellowish white. these are more toward the bluish white then the LED accent bulbs on the RTS. but since it is blue spyder not bad. plus the oem bulb gets really hot in the small fender enclosure and uses more energy obviously.

The new bulbs are about the same brightness as stock but from on the bike easier to see so depends on angle if you are inline with one of the LEDs it maybe only slightly brighter.

Here is the pic of half done:

Those are beautiful. How did you know they would work? BTW, pics are great, thanks.

I didn't but for $3 investment plus waiting a few weeks for the bulbs to arrive figured if it doesn't work nothing lost.

I was hoping they would be brighter then stock but oh well an upgrade for cheap looks wise and the life of LEDs, I will not have to be changing them out anytime soon

do they look the same? the light out of these are about the same as the OEM bulbs but the tint is definitely white bordering on blue.

I am guessing your getting more lumens from the ESI bulbs. plus the ESI probably has better construction. from afar were they brighter then the OEM bulb?

I bought mine from Superbright LED. They were a little more expensive than the ones from Hong Kong ($2 ea + shipping), but I was getting some other lights fromn them anyway, so they were a throw in. Had them in my RS, and liked them so much I transferred them to the RT when I bought it. They put out a lot of light, but I've not noticed heat. They also have a number of color choices if you don't like the cool white look. I'll get a photo of these in a bit.
The OEM bulbs got seriously hot. When I was showing the difference to my wife (same basic idea - old in one, new in the other), I forgot it'd been on when I went to make the switch, and if I hadn't been wearing gloves, would have dropped it for certain.
I have only put these lights on my RT from Superbright, so I can't comment on their other products, although I'm working on a side reflector mod that is hopeful... What I can say is that they've been very responsive to my rookie questions as I work through learning how to wire some of this stuff together.

At Superbright there $5.95 each . I got the 4 LED amber with my ESI Fender tips BUT would buy these IF they are brighter? Anyone Know???:dontknow:

The ESI / Custom Dynamics LED fender tip bulbs are very different and much brighter than stock incandescent.
The light from their four LEDs is directed forward. About $14 each as I recall and a true 30 second install.

can you take a pic and post what the naked ESI bulb looks like and also what it looks lit versus the stock incandescent bulb lit? it takes only 20 seconds to swap out...

would like to see how much brighter they are from the side and front.... that would be great to know.

looks like the Custom Dynamics LED bulbs are 4 LED cluster all pointing straight up, so they should be much brighter from direct in front ... how do they look from off angle or the side?

the point is not sourcing the led bulbs....

its finding the brightest not only from the front but from off angle as well ;)

that will fit in the lens

I believe just Like Christopher Columbus your name will go down in BRP Can - Am History.
You have taken a journey that few have accepted or been qualified to achieve. Thomas
Edison, Graham Bell and Clueless are my heroes!!

When I buy my next Spyder i will hunt ebay down like no tomorrow . Until then I will
have to live with my mistake of purchasing ESI Front Fender tip turn signals. Oh
I forgot, You did say they work as turn signals too, didn't you???:dontknow:

Mine alternate with the turn signal. The pictures below illustrate with the Hazard switch enacted.

thanks TB for the pics . can you do me one favor and grab a shot of the fender tips from the side? and a pic of the bulb bare?

oh I did not install the additional wiring to make mine turnsignals. just did the 30 second swap.

oh just read your post so both front fender tips were lit in the bottom pic. so as I thought the LEDs they use are all 4 leds front firing. if you see from my pics going with the LEDs that are pointing in all directions you get light no matter which direction (which I want so people can see me at an angle as well) but the downside is they are not brighter then the OEM bulb.

but the LED bulbs run a #$#$ of a lot cooler then that little incandescent OEM bulb. It was like someone said earlier when I was testing as well.. the incandescent bulb almost burn the :cus: off my gloved hand when removing the bulb. I had a nitrite glove on so was able to pull out the bulb. I don't like to touch bare incandescent bulbs with my finger oils if I ever wanted to reuse them... I assume like headlights that it would cause the incandescent bulbs to burn out faster.
