• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Phone mount

I purchased a Tech Mount for the center of the handlebars. The comments on Amazon said just buy a 1" ball with 1/4 20 threads and replace the one on the techmount. Well that seems to be erroneous information, as the techmount 17mm ball has a specific mount, not a threaded hole. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to mount a 1" phone mount to the 17mm ball?

It sounds like what you purchased is not what was advertised.

However, you could use a dremel to cut off the existing ball, drill through the base where the old ball was mounted, then tap the hole with a 1/4" thread.

I have the Techmount Gripper going to a regular RAM mount. Techmount is 17MM and RAM is 25mm/1" I used an adaptor like THIS. 17MM fits into Techmount and 1" fits into my B size RAM arm.

Problem I have is the Techmount on the bike is a 17mm ball and the phone cradle I have goes on a 1" ram mount ball. I have since posting cut the 17mm off, drilled and tapped the remainder and have ordered a 1/4" 20 thread Ram ball.

Here is a smart A$$ answer but I find that my phone mounts very well in my back pocket. Most people are going to get off the bike every couple of hours, so that is an excellent time to catch up on text messages and directions.
