There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Persnickety Harely Riders

We took my new 2015 RT limited on our first long trip, a little over 4,500 miles in 2 weeks. I've got to say it performed flawlessly and the more I rode the more I love it. The first day in Nova Scotia a pickup driver towing a 5th wheel didn't get out to see what was around him and backed into the front causing my blood to boil a little. Damage was not too bad and didn't stop us from finishing and enjoying the trip.
The trip home started out with us riding in rain for 4 straight days. I learned that the back tire throws a huge amount of water onto the passengers back causing them to get much wetter than the driver. We stopped and washed it every time it looked like the rain had stopped for the day, but by the 4th day of rain decided that maybe it wouldn't rain if we didn't wash it, that didn't work either.
We stopped to eat while ridding in the rain and I saw that somewhere on the road the antenna and boot had fallen off. I contacted the dealer who told me I would have to purchase a replacement. I proceeded to send him links to the information regarding this issue posted on this forum and was then informed the new antenna and boot would be covered and free of charge. This site is awesome!
We stopped in Niagara Falls, after riding in the rain for 3 hours, and the sun was out. We proceeded to take off the rain gear and was looking at the amount of dirt from the road that the back tire had deposited onto the trunk, the pour Spyder looked sad. It was then when we overheard a couple of Harley riders nest to us say, "You can tell they don't take care of that thing, look how dirty it is and look at the gouge out of the front. They don't deserve to own something like that".
:banghead::banghead::banghead:I bit my tongue and didn't start an argument about the difference in ridding too, from, and where you want to go verses hauling too and from and only ridding at the destination and never in anything but days sunshine. I just smiled, my wife and I chuckled, and wondered if they had ever put over 6,000 miles on in 4 weeks of purchasing their rides like we just had.
Well now the 2, 2 wheelers will be going for sale in the spring, I am sold on the Spyder for its fun, reliability, and overall being a pleasure to ride!!!

Thank you for the great post and pictures. The HD posers you encountered probably were riding garage queens. Your two week ride was most likely more miles that they put on in two years.

Enjoy, and remember your trip. What others say, shows you a little bit about them. Idiots do not count. :roflblack:

We bought a pair of mud flaps at Auto Zone for $18 and cut them down and bolted them on the existing fudflap and it has reduced the flying mud and debris buy 90% we too like to ride from point to point and enjoy everything in between. The fud flaps will make a big differance.

Whenever I see a couple of really "Pretty" bikes like those Harleys, I wonder if they have any idea as to the amount of fun that they're missing... :D

:agree: with others responders here. Those HD riders probably never venture more than 50 miles from home. Last week a friend recently told me about his 500 mile trip on his new full-dress HD to help a friend build a deck. He said he was reluctant to even mention it since I tour so much. I told him I recently ordered new tires and he said he has never had a bike long enough to need to replace the tires!! And he'd had his last bike since 1979!! :yikes: Apparently all his driving is local on the weekends.

Nice post and nice pictures. Some Harley folks wave and some don't wave. I hope they don't see me laughing when they demonstrate their disdain.

In all fairness

I do have to say in all fairness that we ran into a group of 4 Harley riders in NY that were from Ontario, and they were the nicest, most inquisitive, and all around great guys that we ran across on the entire trip. They even asked if they could sit on the Spyder to see how it felt and commented on how comfortable it was.

We ran into a couple each with their own Harley, from CO that had left home in May and had to be home by the end of September who was averaging about 300 miles a day.
Just wanted to make sure that I didn't come across as thinking all Harley riders were stuck up Sunday only riders.

It is amazing how much conversation the Spyder can cause and how many people want pictures of it. When we all have open minds about what people choose to ride we all enrich each-others lives and a GREAT time is had by all:thumbup:

I am positive that not All Harley People are rude, we have several friends with Harleys and they are good people. People have a tendency to be rude no matter what they ride or drive.

Just wanted to let you know I'm a really nice guy. I have a Spyder & also ride a Harley.:D All the years I've been riding made me come to this conclusion. It don't matter what you ride or drive. I've experienced jerks on every brand of transportation. Having just said that, I've met some really nice folks as well.
I'm sure you and the Misses have some good memories of your 4,500 mile trip.

Here we go again "bashing" Harley Riders. Get over it! The only group we "bashed in all the years I rode Harley's were the Gold Wing guys. They looked like a rolling Starbuck's with all there cup holders.:joke: I bought the first Gold Wing that came to Minneapolis in 1975. I immediately sold it when I begun to get the itch to install a cup holder. I sold it to a Gentleman who had lost a leg to cancer and had an artificial limb after we moved back to Seattle. He loved it.

I've ridden Harleys, Hondas, Kawasakis and Can-Ams. On their respective forums everyone but Harley riders bash Harley riders. It's a common theme that everyone assumes that Harley riders look down on them, but I've rarely experienced it. On the Harley forums, I rarely hear any mention of other bikes. Most I've met are friendly and want to know about my bike. The few who turn up their noses aren't worth worrying about.

Ride what you choose and enjoy it. People look down on me for being a Christian, for riding in general, for riding a Can-Am, for not riding a Harley, for being an old diabetic software developer, for being pudgy. If I let everyone who doesn't approve of me bother me I'd have to just give up.

I'm not gonna comment about the HD people. However, as for the dirt and your flap. You have it in the wrong place. I think someone suggested in an earlier post to have it attached to the factory flap. That's what I did and it certainly keeps the water, etc., off your passenger. However, it doesn't with respect to any trailer you might be pulling. There is someone/vendor that has just the ticket for both passenger and trailer. You might do a bit of searching. It will pay you and your passenger dividends.

Tent Camper

Is that a pull behind tent camper? If so, what kind is it. Love the big covered front area.
