There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Pegs vs Footrests?

I'm not sure whether I'm using the correct terminology, but I hope you understand. In beginning my shopping for a Spyder, I see that certain models have pegs to rest your feet on while others have footrests or "mini-platforms" for your feet. In sitting on the showroom Spyders, I found that the footrests provide a little extra flexibility (differing foot positions) and make it easier for me to get on and off the bike.

So I'm wondering whether these footrests are available as an option on all models?

I'd also be curious as to which you prefer on your ride.

Thanks!

I have ridden with both. My preference is the floor boards. it allows you more flexability wih your feet while traveling. my preferred board was the Seal aftermarket boards. I now have the factory boards but I prefer the seal boards. they are a sponsor on this site.

Thanks for the response.

So, are you saying that after market floorboards are available for ANY and ALL Spyder models?

Try this....

Go to the home page to our sponsor vendors and check them out. you will see Seal boards but many others offer them. Lamonster garage, Can Am spyder accessories.com and many online as well...

BOTH

WHY HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE BOTH.......
here's my answer to the above....

Floorboards give you some room to move your feet around during a ride...
Nothing integrates as well with the bike as an OEM set of 'Boards...

But the aftermarket ones aren't too shabby! :D
I added a set of Highway Pegs, and everything got to be... perfect!

Prior to 2013 all Spyder's came from the factory with foot pegs. Since then the semi automatic models usually come equipped with floorboards, that is models above the base model. SM, or models with manual transmissions still come with pegs.

PEGS VS. FLOORBOARDS

Once you've tried floorboards you will never go back ........ I bought a basic RT ( SE ) and made my own alum. floorboards. It was very easy ... In-bolt the rubber pad & re-move it..... you now have a flat surface to mount your own board and two nice holes to bolt them onto the OEM pegs ..... depending on your design, you can extend them far enough back to use the bolt between the driver peg and passenger footrest . as a rear support .... you can even extend the front to act as highway pegs ...... DIY'ers ROCK ....... If your coming to Spyderfest look me up ... I have 75 things done to my 2014 RT so far...... 99 % DIY .............. Mike

I have pegs only on my RT and on a long trip I do find myself wanted to change the position of my feet a little forward. I will put on highway pegs this summer and see how that goes. I have never used the floor boards but I like being able to rock my feet back and forth on the pegs to readjust.

I'm kind of the odd man out here.

I prefer foot pegs, never have cared for boards. This may be a carryover from my preference for sport touring bikes. My wife likes boards so I make sure my bikes have passenger boards, but give me pegs every time. I did add the NBV highway pegs and I do like them.

Foot pegs vs. floorboards

My 2012 RTS came with foot pegs which I liked because of my sitting and ankle position. My 2015 RTS came with floorboards which I was sure I would switch to pegs. Before I got a chance to change them we were going on a group ride when my GPS fell off. It landed on the floorboard and stayed there until I got stopped and recovered it. I took it as an omen and have learned to like the floorboards. If you need a set of foot pegs, I have them.

I have only had the pegs on my two Spyders, but I move my feet around while riding. Put my heel on the peg and let my toes point down and give them a good stretch. Have not felt the need for floorboards yet.

Pegs

I have a 2015 F-3 and have pegs. I prefer to ride heels down, it seems to be easier on my ankles and artificial knees. My wife prefers foot boards for the passenger position so she can move her feet around. It's horses for courses, do what feels best for you.

As you can see, riders are split on pegs or Floorboards. If you want all the bells and whistles buy the trop of the line Spyder and you will get lots f stuff you may or not want plus you'll get a small BRP floorboard that costs about $1,000. on top of all the other 'stuff" they force you to buy. If you want to save about $5K or more, buy the base model and add my huge Seal Floorboards and choose the extras you want, not must buy. I have them for all yrs. and models. See ya at Spyderfest, and...........
Ride in comfort,
John
