• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Peeve I have about replies to questions

Not to offend anyone, lol.. I see posts where some asks a clear question and the replies seem to be members just wanting to comment and not an answer . When I post a question I hope to get an answer to it and really do not want opinions unless it supports the answer. For example, "how much did you pay for your bike in the US" and answers come back like "the dealer needs to make a profit"

Lol... Naturally they do so just answer the question or hold comment/opinion, very simple, lol.

It is just a peeve but one shared by several members that belong to Spyderlovers. I belong to a lot of other forums and by far this one seems to get off topic more often and posts drag on and on without answering the original question.

answer

i personally read all posts and being fairly new to spyders i only answer the ones i can help with

I'm probably more guilty of this than anybody else in here...:opps:

But it's definitely a New Year's Resolution for 2014!

That's one of the things about open forums that can make them so... entertaining! :D

Probably a universal aggravation. But like death and taxes, it's more how you deal with it than a question of avoiding it altogether.

It's like panning for gold, you may have to sort through some debris to find the nuggets. But it's always worth the effort when you find what you're looking for.

Just part of the adventure!

On other forums where I'm an Admin, most threads are open to such off topic runs, but we try to keep threads in the "Tech" forums cleaned up and flowing best we can. That way when visitors come in w a question they don't have to get frustrated weeding through a bunch of posts. It is very hard sometimes to keep them cleaned up. We dump them to an off topic area where they can continue...just pull them out of the tech area. This can only be done using multiple admin/moderators. Not sure how many moderators this site even has or if it is only Lamont doing the dirty work.

LoL,.. glad it was taken in stride as no individual was being targeted in my peeve, lol. I suppose it depends on the question to a degree but I try to phrase them to make them as clear as possible and I have seen some new members ask some good questions that never seem to get answered completely. Some of the members blow me away with their knowledge and experience that is why I am always eager to ask and learn.

:)

OP, this surely happens, but I actually like the comments that tend to get posted. I usually find out something that I didn't know by reading all the comments in the thread. Like I may be reading a thread about heat issues, and someone comments on their awesome floorboards, and I start taking notes. It makes for a fun board.

There seem to be several who's goal is to increase their post count so they usually pop in saying they don't know but someone else will answer it.
Guess that's ok, but I generally skip over them without giving them any attention. Just ignore them.

Lately, it does not seem to matter what anyone says. There are always some detractors. There seems to be a lot of cheap shot artists of late. I for one, like the extra information that one finds in a lot of the threads. That is one of the things that keeps the place interesting IMO.
