• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Glad you, the family and the house are ok! Sorry about your Spyder! If it's some dumb engineering thing then BRP needs to give you a free new one!

I only saw this tonight. I have to add my surprise to everyone else's, and again compliment you on your clear-headedness in reacting to what could have been far more devastating.

I know there is a lot to take care of with insurance and department of motor vehicles and your dealer and BRP and disposal of the...remains...but please try to let us know your progress.

Good luck. :doorag:

Blessed with great timing

Like all the others, I'm glad you and family are fine.

The Spyder died at about 4:15 pm today. No one else was hurt. The house and truck had some heat damage, but it could have been much worse.

There was no warning of any impending problems. Everything seem to be perfectly normal. The fire started on the right side, just as I pulled into the garage. Three minuets later and I would have been in the house totally unaware of a fire in the garage. I turned off the ignition and pushed the Spyder out of the garage.

Looks like the work of...
Osama Been Riden

Geez, glad you are ok and were able to keep your home safe. I just don't know what to say other than sorry for your loss. Take care.

Glad you, the house and everyone is ok. Good that you had time to get it out of the house. Did it start real fast like gas igniting?

take care

Wow that's crazy!! The spyder in the Aussie fires, the blue one that hit a deer, and now this one, all are terrible states to see these awsome machines in! Lamonsters had some sad pics of his taken apart doing mods and painting! But he got to put it back together at least! Anyway that way sucks glad yer ok!

speechless

I am speechless ( not very often ). Glad you and family are OK.

Let a private adjuster handle this. Will save you tons of headache at very little cost.

I keep a class BC fire extinguisher in the garage near my tool bench since I'm always working on something with gas in it, but I don't know if I would have had the sense to grab it. It also reminds me of the silly law that requires Sea Doos and all PWCs to have a fire extinguisher on board. I know that if I see smoke or flames coming out from the seat I'm sitting on, I won't be looking for any fire extinguisher. If there was a fuel leak involved, at least it didn't vaporize and explode. That could have really been a disaster.

What caused the fire?

SPYDER1026 did you or BRP determine what caused the fire? Is it something that the rest of us should check out.

If you've already said the cause... I missed it.

PE1026, you will always be a PE owner to us. Keep the jacket and wear it proudly.
Mine is still in the shop, hope if there is any simular issues it happens around a shop full of witnesses!

Another up in smoke - Premier Edition #3224

Mine burnt to the ground on June 22. I had ridden it from my home to my girlfriends home, about 12 miles. As soon as I dismounted I smelled burning, looked down at the seat saddle area and saw smoke that rapidly doubled - redoubled - quadrupled. The volume was so great that I had to get away from it (think explosion). As I was moving away it gave a 'crump' sound and I looked back to see it in flame.
It burnt VERY quickly. Way before the fire department arrived.
I feel very lucky to have NOT been on the thing and to have NOT parked it in my girlfriends garage, as I normally did.
Phoenix is hot - but come on! I wonder what BRP may be thinking ...
