• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am very sorry about your spyder. i noticed that your truck has a florida plate. What part of florida are you by. It has been very dry and hot down in South Florida do you think the elements had any role in this or what do you think happend

Elements affecting the garage....:hun:

I think I'm going to pull the evap canister and re-plumb the vent and overflow lines to drop out the rear of the bike. Been thinking this over for a while due to stories of heavy gas fumes from that area, and I've noticed them myself from time to time.

:yikes:I saw this last night on my iphone but didn't comment. So what do you think happened? Were there any mods done to the Spyder? I'm just glad it wasn't the house too and you're okay. Let us if you find out why it might have happened.

The Spyder died at about 4:15 pm today. No one else was hurt. The house and truck had some heat damage, but it could have been much worse.

There was no warning of any impending problems. Everything seem to be perfectly normal. The fire started on the right side, just as I pulled into the garage. Three minuets later and I would have been in the house totally unaware of a fire in the garage. I turned off the ignition and pushed the Spyder out of the garage.

This didn't have anything to do with a fan switch did it?

I had not yet done anything about the fan switch. My mods were all innocent stuff such as handlebar risers, fog lights, HID headlights, sway bar, seats, saddlebags, highway pegs, etc. There were no changes of any kind made in the right side area of the engine where the fire started. It is a total mystery to me.

Well that's good. So what do you do from here?

Glad you are okay. Sorry about your :spyder2: but materials can be replaced - human lives cannot.

I am glad to hear you, your family, and house are ok. I can't even imagine what you are going through . I hope all works out.

quackerz

This is a shocker and I hope either through your insurance company adjuster or dealer? or somebody you can find out what happened. Thank goodness you had the presence of mind to push it out of your garage before the fire got too big.

Glad you and your family are OK. Without your quick thinking it could have been such a disaster.

I just cannot get over those photos.

Quite the exciting day out here in Spyder land---- first the meltdown of a Spyder---- then the meltdown of a Spyder owner - :p .

I'm really thinking the Spyder meltdown had something to do with that evap unit - but it does look like the tank was intact - which is a good thing!

Heck - I've spilled gas right on a hot engine when filling it and never started a fire - this is just wild!

OMG!!! I'm glad to hear that you are okay and so is your house. So sorry about your Spyder. I hope you had full coverage. OUCH!!

I've heard of human spontaneous combustion but I've never heard of a Spyder spontaneous combustion.
