• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger Sensor

What is the passenger sensor do ? (I know it senses if there is a passenger,) but why, and what does it alter ? And at would happen if it were not plugged in. In cars, I understand. It is for the seat belt activation. Perplexed.......:dontknow:

It feeds into the Vehicle Control Module and may affect more than just braking, but I don't know. If it is not plugged in the VSS icon stays lit on the cluster screen. No error codes are shown though.

Pop your seat up in the air, and you'll see it on the left side toward the rear of the sear. (The wiring comes up out of the bike's belly, and plugs into it.)

I don't know what model you're ryding, but with my 2015 RT-S, the passenger sensor tells my automatic rear suspension system to adjust to the extra weight, so you hear the little air compressor go on.

as near as I can tell, at least on MINE, it deactivates the passenger controls for radio and heated handholds, if un- sat upon

You have the RT-S. Had you bought the Limited: you would have also had the Passenger Ejector Seat feature installed on the bike! :D

:D My Missus thought that it meant "Limited Farkling Opportunities"...

If you have to ask Bob, it's too late. The East Coast Posse will put up a memorial plaque in your honor! :roflblack:

:agree: That link to the swing arm is what is used by the system to adjust the ride height.
The ride height itself tries to change based upon the load on the bike.

So THAT'S what "Limited" stands for! Limited number of passengers. Or maybe just total poundage. :D

It's an equation you might want to work out without the presence of your significant other.

Jack

I believe also the passenger seat heat is deactivated without weight.

Are you sure on that? There is a position sensor on the frame, linked to the swingarm that I believe controls what you mentioned. Simply adds or reduces air pressure based on how low the machine squats.

You are correct. It works with or without a passenger on the RTL.

Ahh, no, I just assumed passenger sensor meant, well, sensing a passenger. Thanks for correcting me. GADS, how many sensors does a Spyder have in total??
