• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger rules

I think this is a great thread that everyone should pass along to their significant others if they ride two up. I asked my wife about her riding habits and found out that most of the time she wasn't holding on. I passed the thread along to her and by reading it I'm confident it will change how she rides. Thanks guys ! ! !

arm rest and back rest,my wife loves the spyder now.she said befor the arm rest it felt like she was going to fall off .the arm rest is the best ad on ive bought.:2thumbs::spyder2::chat::D

Where did you get your arm rests? My 2up is my 12 year old son, hubby takes our 17 year old daughter on his Cross Roads and the son is with me... anyway, he loves it and holds on and leans, but I think I'd feel safer if he had arm rests.

The Corbin armrests are a definite improvement on the RT. I put them on for my grandaughter because she rides with me all the time. She loves them because she can support her arms on them and they keep her more secure on the seat. I like it better because I worry less about her falling off.

When I carry passengers my rules are : no sudden movements unless you let me know before hand and when I lean you lean with me , If I lean a little then you lean a little with me . I find that when we both lean into a corner the :f_spider: tracks around the corner better. I do not want my passengers suddenly moving around with out me knowing about it as I could be in the middle of a turn or being startled. Being the driver I am responsible for my passengers safety. When my wife is on the back I don't even notice her back there unless she wants to stop :lecturef_smilie:

Additional from me:

I am riding with a passenger on my RTS now. The rider has had no previous experience with motorcycle riding.

There are no stability issues. She is very comfortable at all times. I try to take corners with as little g forces as possible (try apexing your turns).

We communicate by headset and I let her know upcoming movements if possible.

We have now completed over 2500 miles and she is very comfortable as a passenger.

I would not let this issue detract you from buying a spyder.

I usually ride as the passenger behind hubby (YolBlosun). I holdon most of the time and lean in the curves with him. On tight curves I may even lean more and it seems that the Spyder turn is smoother. I am shorter than hubby, but I try to watch the road over the end of his shoulder for signs and road debris. Four eyes can be better than two!

I do not usually let him ride as a passenger as he is taller and heavier. Sometimes just driving straight seems like the bike is leaning. On corners, he HAS to lean with me.

Arm rests might be nice as a passenger, but we will wait to decide on those until after the Utopia backrest is installed

The #1 most important rule for the passenger is......

Don't scuff up my rYde getting on and off.

Anything else is useless info !!!!:roflblack:

Scotty said it all. I couldn't add a thing. Our RT is by far the best 2-up touring machine we've ever been on.

Cotton

In my experience, almost none.

:agree:

Just have them hold on!

My six year old grand daughter rides with us, we put a bunge cord around the backrest - just in case - she has fallen asleep a few times. we wake her up of course. My 16 mo old grand daughter rode the other day - only on the driveway bout 10 feet or so. We love our :spyder:s!

Sorry, but children that cannot reach the footrests, cannot be fit in the proper sized helmet, cannot hang on continually, and are not aware of the traffic and other situations, should not be riding! You may as well strap them to the grill of your car. If something happens, you will be absolutely devastated. Please, please reconsider!!!
