Where was she wet? My wife has had problems at the neck...from the back. There is a lot of backdraft on the Spyder. Solutions: Be sure your clothing or another jacket does not project above the rain jacket at the neck...especially fleece, which wicks the water inside quickly. The neck needs to fight snugly...many don't. A rainjacket with a hood is a huge help for backdraft rain.
For rain coming in the front, things can be more difficult. Solutions: Be sure after you sit down you adjust the jacket to have no valleys...any folds that point upward will collect water and push it past the rain flap. The water has to be able to drain downward freely. That water that gets inside ends up in your crotch eventually. BTW, a snug jacket usually works better than a loose one. Make sure the jacket has a good rainflap above the zipper that folds over, and be sure to fasten the outer flap completely, to hold the rainflap down. The only solution to a poorly designed jacket is another jacket, I'm afraid.
If the jacket is carefully put on and fits well, another brand or design may be needed. A one piece suit is more watertight than a two-piece, for instance. In a downpour, frankly, nothing may help for long. I have even had leaks through two layers of waterproof garments, although a waterproof riding suit under a rainsuit gives a good fighting chance. In those cases, merino wool or polypropylene garments are warmer than cotton, and the poly stuff dries more quickly.
Study how the rainsuit is put on, made, and how it fits. The solution may well lie in little adjustments. If you have to try another brand, try to overcome any weak points you find with a differing design. I wish you luck in your quest.
