• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Passenger Floorboards--Prototype

We were able to complete Jennifer's floorboards this weekend, and installed them. Had a chance to go about 150 miles today. Here is Jennifer's review:

Well, it's rather early to tell after only 150 miles. I think I can honestly say that the sitting position is much improved. The seat/bike leg spread is so different from our previous bikes; the Spyder tends to make my right hip joint hurt (part age maybe but don't really think so ) and fatigues my lower areas. When getting off the bike I have to kind of work out the kinks in the lower back without making it look too obvious that it's an uncomfortable ride at times (this is for any gawkers wondering what the heck is that thing!). With the new floor boards I feel like I am sitting in a chair, which for me is a good thing because I don't lean back much. I will try to post again after a few more rides in the saddle.

This is not meant to be a major weight bearing mod, just enough for her to support her feet and leg weight on. Today she was using my left footpeg to get on and her left footboard (putting her weight over the passenger footpeg frame) to dismount. I plan on adding another plate on top of this one and screw them together for added strength and then cover them with a something I found. Hope to have it all done in the next 2 weeks for another picture showing. Any suggestions, pro or con would be greatly appreciated.

My only suggestion would be to consider beefing up the mount. Designs similar to what you are doing incorporate a second mounting point where the muffler bracket attaches on the right side and the open hole (or where your GIVI rack is mounted) in the same location on the left. Looks like a good design.

:agree:

I would at least beef up underneath the 'floorboard' as it will bend over time and use.

Thanks. Beefing it up is in the plans. Also putting a more non-slip service. This one is very prototype, but Jennifer felt better on it, so I plan on building it up and making it look more like it was stock. The whole thing can still be retracted if need be without touching the GIVI bags.
