• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking

Yup! It is classified as a motorcycle and I park it like one in MC parking spots.

It may be the way the picture was shot, but what is that lane ( 2 solid white lines) in front of the bikes which looks to narrow for a traffic lane. I can tell you where I live, if I parked as those spyders in the picture, the front end would be in a traffic lane.

:agree: If you stick your nose out into traffic: it's completely at your own risk. nojoke

I aways park which way I deem is the safest for my spyder and the space provided .
While parked on a town street a while ago we parked parallel to the side walk in car spots because they where to narrow to park on a diagonal.
We where scream at by an ignorant person for taking up two spots .
When we explained why he flipped us off and stormed away back to his entitled Range Rover and drove away.
Park which ever way is the safest for you and traffic and you can't go wrong unless it's in front of a hydrant then all bets are off LOL.

It verges on the bicycle lane. Normally I would be worried, but many bikes cross that line, and the police do not have an issue with it.

I very rarely Park ................... But when i do, i park wherever I want to.

Jim,
Whether you back or, or pull in: it doesn't matter, if the roadside-end of the bike is over the line, and sticking out into traffic...nojoke

I'll use motorcycle only parking when available and other spots if not. I'll also park in a way that I consider the safest for my spyder and the space provided. That may mean to pull in or back into the space. Dale

WHAT ABOUT WALMART

I see a lot of bikes that park in the yellow stripes at the front of the lanes at Walmart etc. Not in handicapped spots, but in the areas at the end. Leaners fit there fine...and I have never seen one ticketed...what about the Spyders, do any of you park in these areas ?

Its perfectly acceptable. Traditional Trikes do, so there is no reason that you should not...but, at the end of the day...do as your conciense allows...

Bob, that wasn't my question. I was asking why you said you wouldn't back into a curb?

As for sticking my nose into traffic, I already told you, twice, it wasn't into traffic, it was into a bicycle lane. That lane is 3' wide, no cars allowed. and it is a complete non-issue.nojoke

In parking lots I take a space just like a car but I park close the end so I am easily seen before someone tries to pull in. On the street it depends on the situation. I have parallel parked where there no lines and I have backed in on a diagonal when there other bikes.

I see it occasionally, and if it is not in fact a part of the handicapped zone, I will park there sometimes.

In Minnesota, and I would assume other states, some of our retailers make a specific area labeled for motorcycles. Thus is usually a rectangular area and paved in cement rather than blacktop. Motorcycles need these area due to the kickstand digging into blacktop on hot days. I will park my Spyder in a regular car slot to ensure the two wheelers have room for their special needs.

At Work

Prolly a bicycle lane.

2 jobs ago, one of the riders talked the grounds & safety departments into designating couple of motorcycle parking spots. Those sorry sapsuckers put the spots way in the back, as far from the building as possible. Maybe one of us had ticked them off. We tried to explain that the kickstands were tearing up the (new) black top, but got no understanding.
