• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking Brake "Sticky"

Hmmmm .... for the second time today, my parking brake was reluctant to release. :mad: Happened a few weeks ago after the spyder had been sitting for couple of weeks (had also been sitting a couple of weeks today). Here's the scenario (sorry for the colorful language :opps:):

  • Turn key on so I could release the brake and roll the spyder back a few inches in order to reach the rear valve stem.
  • Push switch .... nothing happens :cus::cus:
  • Turn key off and remove
  • Sit on spyder, step on brake, insert key and turn it back on .. push switch ... nothing happens :cus::cus::cus:
  • Notice engine cutoff is in the "off" position, push it to the "on" position
  • Foot is still on the brake, push switch ... nothing happens :cus::cus::cus::cus:
  • Push switch two or three more times, finally the brake releases :yes:

This is on a 2012 RT Limited (SE5) and I must also let ya'll know that we have 1.5 miles of dirty / dusty / rocky road to ride down in order to get to or from our property. Curious to know what the spyderlovers community thinks of this ... is my switch going bad? is it dust affecting some sensor? what do I do if it finally gives up and won't release at all?

Thanks for your advice .... Ann

Could be a faulty switch, or could be a cable or pulley that needs lubrication...among other things. Your dealer is the best equipped to troubleshoot the problem and test the switch.

You have to release the parking brake cable manually. It is pretty easy and only takes a minute if you have a crescent wrench but I can't explain the details. Sorry. I hope it doesn't get stuck before you have your dealer look at it.

:yes:Check your battery voltage and connections! I have a 2011 RTS and had the same problem. Found out that the battery voltage was low even though I rode it 4 days a week. Put a battery tender on it and it will probably bring the volts up on the battery to stop this condition.
