• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking Brake RT

Well, I changed my brake pads yesterday. Then there were issues with the parking brake and the red flashing light.
So, I got to speak with the Great One Lamont last night. He gave me some great insights as to what I would have to do to get the parking brake working again.

He mentioned that maybe the parking brake cable came off the front wheel thingy and that's why is was not engaging.
DSCN2089s.jpgYep, cable came off the front wheel thingy.DSCN2092s.jpgSo, after removing the cable from the parking brake wheel thingy on the caliper, I reattached the cable up front. Then reattached the cable on the brake caliper end.
DSCN2091s.jpgAt the 3 o'clock position you can see the head of an allen head bolt. This one of two bolts that are part of the brake pad assembly on the caliper. The other one is behind the black unit you see here. Since the pads were worn, after I disconnected the cable, I could rotate the black thing out of the way to access the head of the bolt to loosen it. But after installing the new pads, this black thingy wouldn't move out of the way.
So, I had to make a special tool because the allen wrench didn't have clearance to the head of the bolt. DSCN2096s.jpg
(I had to loosen these before I removed the caliper off my RT) Here is the HyTech Tool I made from a 3/8" allen wrench. If you make it too long, you can't get a box end wrench on it. I used a shiny 'ABE Reference Tool' to show the correct size.

I guess a trip to the dealer for my 12,000 mile service is in order to make the red flashing light go away when I release to parking brake. I tested the parking brake and the Spyder won't go with the parking brake on. So, it's all good.

how?

did you wear out a set of brake pads, bob?:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: that would require riding.:joke:

Most cars, the emergency brake (parking brake) works on the back wheels. If your car has disk brakes in front, drum brakes in the back, the emergency brake will work on the back wheels, without any doubt.
