• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking Brake Failure

It isn't off the front pulley and yes it still works fine. I have also checked the fluid level and it is fine. The problem is the indicator light does not go out when the brake is released. No active codes. Turn the bike off and then back on and it clears and the parking brake indicator goes out. It doesn't happen everytime and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it does come up. The only thing I can think of is the switch on the bottom side of the front pulley going bad. I thought that was just a limit switch to stop the rotation but maybe not. Anybody have an idea?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob. Isn't that annoying when the brake indicator keeps flashing at you every 20 or 30 seconds? Mine was doing that and it was fluid - not in the reservoir that looked fine but they said it was low in the brake line.

That's the thing, mine is just the parking brake failure and if I shut it off and turn it back on it goes away and won't come back on until after I park the bike for a while.

After sitting in my unheated garage this winter, when I fired up my '10 RTS this spring, the parking brake released but the light stayed on. After backing out and shifting into first, the light went out. Now, every morning when I fire it up, it does the same thing. When it starts to bother me, I'll fix it.

If you look at the front pulley there is a little switch on the outside. Check that switch to make sure it is properly working. I believe that switch tells the bike when the brake is activated so it stops the rotation.
