• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking Brake Failure -- Cable Coming Off Front Pully.

Parking Brake cable has come off the front pully three times now on my 2011 RTS-SE5. I have not yet had the spring replaced and have another 450 miles until my 3000 mile service. The rear brake assenble moves freely and the spring tension seems OK.

Any suggestions for a tempory fix until I get my Spyder in for the 3000 mile service?

The next time you have the panels off to replace the cable, clean the rubber boot at the end of the sheath, and the vinyl coated portion of the cable, and apply a little silicone lube. Do the same at other end of the cable at the rear drum. It helps.

Parking brake cable

After reinstalling my wifes 5 times I added a short spring to the rear pulley connected to the axel cotter pin to pull back on the cable from the rear I feel the rear spring is too weak, drilled a small hole in the pulley and attatched with a tyrap I will try to put a pic. in the gallery I have not touched it since. My wife got her bike jan. 5 2010 andhad to invent through this on my own.

There is a service bulletin to install a stronger spring in the rear drum. See your dealer. The bulletin says it is for the 2011s, but several springs have been replaced on the 2010s, too.

When you put the cable back on it's a good idea to adjust the slack out of the cable too otherwise it will come off again unless you put something on to prevent that.

Cable

Did add the alum. angle to my wifes bike but spring on the rear fixed theproblem, I just posted the pics. to gallery , spring was just one I had in my tool box, I am sure any hardware would havesomething similar.

Replaced Spring Myself and Installed BlueTooth Cable

Decided to purchase spring ($5.99) and replace it myself versus taking to dealer. 15 minute job to replace spring after taking off right side tuberware. Also installed Bluetook cable while I was looking at the open side and CB radio. How this took a little longer to get to the plug to get it unplugged. After I got it unplugged, I tied a string around the back of the plug so I could pull on the sting for tension to get the blusetook adapter plug inserted. Worked great but it did take around 30 minutes to get the bluetook adapter cable installed and dresses.

Bluetook works great between iPhone and GPS. I can hear the phone call great but not as clear at the other end as I would have thought it should be while just sitting in the driveway at idle speed.

Don't know if mine has the new spring or not but I ran about 2000 miles witha chock block!!!! Then Lamont put in an angle piece and it kept all in place for quite some time. THEN it bent was and angle piece of aluminum and the cable hit it enough times that it bent it up . Sooo I took the tupper ware off drilled a hole in BEHIND the pully the cable runs in( that's metal back there). Got a more solid piece of metal ,thicker and managed to get the darn thing in the RIGHT place and not so low to the pully that it rubbed and I haven't had any problems since. I still bring the chock JUST IN CASE!!!
