• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking Brake adjustment on a GS SM5

Thanks..!!

for posting the link. There are great how to's on youtube and here for maintenance work but little digging required. Cables stretch, brake pads wear down so you do have to check the brake now and again. Manual says four or so clicks. Now your all set..:clap:so release the brake and enjoy the ryde...

Well, my parking brake just wasn't holding anymore. And though leaving it in gear is an option..it is not a fix.
So I went on the interwebs and found this video. Exactly what I needed.

That is an excellent video and it was likely time it was posted again. The important part is if the pedal goes all the way down to the stop it needs to be adjusted. The problem most folks seem to have is the pedal will not latch, unlatch or return to the top and believe this is an adjustment problem. It is not. That is a pedal mechanism issue. It needs to be cleaned a lubricated. It is amazing how much better it will work when it has been lubed up.

Never even knew that was an issue!
Is there a "How to.." dealing with lubricating the pedal itself? (Before I go off searching the interwebs, lol)

I have never seen a how to. Not hard to do. Take enough tupperware off to see the mechanism. If it is dirty. Wash it out with brake clean or WD40. Make sure you stuff some rags behind it so you don't make a mess. BRP says to lube with engine oil but I used white lithium grease. make sure you get lube in the slot the cam pivots on. That is where it will bind causing latch/unlatch issues. Also on the top surface of the cam. If it is not lubed there the pedal will not come all the way up. Causes the parking brake light to stay on and the cam will not reset to latch when the pedal is depressed.
