• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Parking Brake Adjust?

JerryB

New member
Hi out there,

Any of you shade-tree mechanics know the procedure to adjust the parking brake?

I want mine to engage at a slightly higher location.

Thanks,

Jerry Baumchen

PS) Is the parking brake a mechanical or hydraulic system?

PPS) Sorry, I just realized I should have posted this in GS Shop Talk. If a Mod could move it that would be nice.

I've found this place to be great. You can ask a question and nobody looks down on you or thinks you're a dummy for asking. They just give the right info and away you go.

Glad to help out...and yes, this place is awesome! I've been helped many times glad to return the favor

Doesn't work on 2014

My 2014 RS SE-5 parking brake stopped working/ratcheting so I used the above great video and gave it a try. Seems the new 2014 Brembo rear has a differrent setup. I tried this method but the brake arm has a star shaped hole rather than a rod that can easily be turned. I moved it one notch tighter and took up the fine adjust and still no ratchet sound or lock in place happening.
Help anyone?

Since it is under warranty I would try getting the dealer to fix it myself:dontknow:

You are looking at the wrong part. When the pedal won't latch, unlatch or the pedal will not return to the full up position it is because the pedal mechanism is dirty, needs lubrication or both. Give the pedal mechanism a good cleaning and lubricate it. BRP recommends engine oil but I always used white lithium grease. In particular get grease into the slot in the cam and the top surface of the cam.

Thanks Billy
