• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parade Flag Mount

Wife and I both belong to Patriot Guard Riders plus will be riding in the Branson, MO Veteran's Parade in a few weeks so I needed to design flag holders for her '08 RS. Here's the results of my brain storming.

First a list of material for each pole: 42" piece of 1/2" thinwall conduit, 42" piece 3/4" thinwall conduit, 1/2" conduit connectors, 3/4" conduit connector, 3/16" x 1 1/4" eyebolt, two 5/16 x 1 1/4" bolts and nuts, 4 5/16" fender washers, 1 1/2 x 1/16" aluminum stock.

Flatten about 2" of one end of the 3/4" conduit and drill a 5/16" hole in that end.

Run a 1/2" drill through the 1/2 in connector to remove the stop in the center of the connector. Also lightly touch each point of the hex section of that connector so that it will fit inside of the compresion nut of the 3/4" connector (remove the compresion ring from inside of one of the 3/4" nuts.) Insert the 1/2" connector on one end of the 3/4" connector and secure in place by tightening the nut. Position that assembly on the open end of the 3/4" conduit and secure with compression ring and nut.

Cut two pieces of aluminum stock about 7" long drilling 5/16" holes so that just inside the open saces on the footpeg mounts. I J-B Welded fenderwashers and the 5/16" bolts to ne of the finished plates just for ease of assembly. Two u-bolts J-B welded to a piece of 1" PVC conduit split lengthwise secure the upper part of the pole to the passenger hand hold.

It uses the trailer hitch and a mount from Rivco.

How did you attach the flag pole to the hitch? to the hitch ball? to the hitch ball hole?
I purchased a "upright" from RIVCO. I think #900. It comes with a bolt in the bottom to attach to their flag mount system. I just left the "flag mount" off and bolted the upright to Spyder hitch. The bolt is smaller then the hitch bolt so I inserted a washer to help that void. Been on there a while now.
Good Luck

Flag mount question?

Great ideas for the RT flag mount! I have a question for everyone out there. I just found out that I will be riding in a lead position during a Blessing Of the Bikes in May of 2012, and I need to mount a 3' by5' flag on my 2010 RT-A. Anyone have any ideas for me? I do not have the hitch installed on my Smurfette, though.... HELP!!!:dontknow:
