• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Panels

Just as a reminder, if you are taking your spyder in for service before Spyderfest make sure they put the panels on correct. I just had mine services and the tech did not put the two snap on panels on correctly and almost lost both of them going down the road. :banghead:

Also make sure the put the mirrors on correctly mine fell off while riding home the last time my bike was in at the dealership it was only saved by having the turn signal wire attached or it would have been destroyed

...so check both mirrors and clipped in correctly.

It pays to always check your mirrors and panels after your Spyder is serviced, modified, or the oil is checked. Whether you or your tech did the work, it is easy to push through a grommet or fail to latch a clip. Better safe than sorry. A little wiggle of the mirror or panel should tell the tale. If there is more play than normal (or than the other side), better pull things off and take a look.

When the dealers mechanic work on our :spyder2:and we pay them with no question. It's just sad this thing

happened. Why do we have to inspect after them. Should they give our money back?:banghead::banghead:

If "Some of them" can,t put it back together what Makes us think they do "Everything " on the check list they are charging us for??:dontknow:

Sadly..!!

Those who do not do work on these roadster are in the hands of these "mechanics". Everyone should learn the panel removal and re-installation at least to avoid loosing any... :dontknow:

I have to agree. But every time I go to start pulling them I get told no. I am not trained to pull them off. For some reason the wife does not like the way I look when I am trying to figure out how to pull them off. Maybe someone can show me at Spyderfest when the wife is not there.

So you go to the dealer every time you need to check your oil? The procedure for removing the panels is in your manual, and the oil check should be done more frequently than the oil changes at your dealer. Time to work things out with your wife. You obviously aren't checking the oil level every 300 miles, like the maintenance schedule says. (Don't worry, few of us do, but it needs to be done far sooner than every 4,600 mile oil change.)

Actually I check the oil every other tank. I am talking about other panels.
The other panels are unlikely to fall off, since they also have screws through them. The side panels are very easy to push the gromets through when installing, though, so they should be checked regularly. A little wiggle does it. If they wiggle too much, it's time to remove them and check the grommets.
