Painting rear panel/fender on an RT

I have always wondered why can am left the rear panel under the trunk black. I would like to have it painted to match my 2018 RT blue. Any body tried IT? Did it work? Or fail. NEED THE ADVICE please.

Just think about it for a minute. Look at the composition of the fender and the adjacent plastic body parts; they are of two different textures and maybe materials too. Trying to get that rough textured rear panel/fender to look decent after painting might be like putting lipstick on a pig. Now you probably could sand and Bondo it so it looks good for painting, but... Just a thought.

Actually there won't be a problem ….. is the same type of plastic and has the same finish as the DASH surround, and I have painted two of them ..….. " Deanna777 " has the Cognac one on Her posts …… Mike hyea:

I painted mine. You must use plastic adhesion promoter. I kept the texture, but it can be primed with several coats and sanded smooth, then painted.
