Packing for a two day trip to Vermont

Wife and I are going from Maine to Burlington Vt. Saturday for Beer tasting at it's finest. (We walk once we are there) ;) and coming back home Monday afternoon. Do you think we can pack our clothes in a duffle bag that will fit in the Frunk? How do you all pack for small trips like this. Looking for some creative ideas :D

Oh and any good places to eat lunch in Vermont once we get through Franconia Notch in the White Mountains? Mike? Deanna? LOL.

Thanks
Rich

Pack rain gear. Go. When at the destination buy cheap clothing. When finished leave it in Opportunity box, after having hand washed the original clothing which you have now put back on for the return trip! Travel light, travel smart.

I have a set of Hopnel soft bags I purchased from Big Bike Parts, five bags, one for frunk, one for each saddle bag and two for trunk. Smaller trunk bag is for tools, emergency compressor, etc., large trunk bag is for misc stuff, generally not filled, left saddle bag is for rain gear, right saddle bag for my stuff and frunk bag is for SWMBO. For weekends we don't carry extra footwear and she doesn't fill frunk bag. Do remember not to overfill the frunk bag. If you have to push down on the frunk lid to make it latch you could have trouble getting it to open and might damage something in the latch mechanism. She always travels with more :cus: than a gypsy but we've got her pretty lean on the Spyder.

........Even custom made bags for Frunk , side & rear (like BRP's ) will take up usable space and more of it than you might think.......A regular duffel even more !!! .... If the thought of Black plastic bags turns you off ( too tacky ) go to a camping store and get THIN nylon bags sized accordingly ......They will hold the most .... and use the least amount of space themselves .... I'm free this weekend PM me for my phone number if you have lost it ... :lecturef_smilie:.... :roflblack: ..........I know of a nice place in about the middle of your trip, I'll check the name and address and get back to you.............Mike .................Truant's Tavern - Lincoln NH. it's on Rt 3 by Rt 112 ( Kangamangus Hwy ) Google Map it.........you can sit out back and watch folks oogle your Spyder :roflblack:

Absolutely !! We finished a 15 days 4800 mile tour in May and packed everything in the Frunk and sidebags. This included a CPAP machine, electronics and clothes. If all we had to take is clothes everything would fit in the frunk. Essentially we have what we wear while traveling and then a change of clothes for when we get where we are going. Each of us have a 3 Gallon Zip Loc bag which works as our luggage. If it don't fit in there we don't bring it. Leave out the duffel bag. Oh the zip locs have handles !!

You will initially think you will need more than you really need. Lay it out on the floor and then take away 50% of the stuff you don't need and redo it again. Keep in mind you can always buy it on the road if you really really need it.

Here's a link about packing for multiday tour I did back in 2012 http://nomadwillie.blogspot.com/2012/05/packing-lite-for-16-days.html

Jeans can be worn for the whole weekend. Get those antimicrobial "tech" shirts. They can be easily washed in a motel bathtub, rolled in a towel and walked on to start the drying process, then hung to dry and be ready to wear again the next morning. Socks can also be cleaned like that - use a bar of soap and wash them in the sink. Pack the minimum essentials - and make note of what you didn't use on this trip, so you know you don't need it on the next one.

Two Days

This is easy. No need for heroic measures. It is just two days. My wife and I have gone on 10 day trips with just the luggage tha came with our RTL. One thing that really helps is LidLox!

Pack smart...

For two days we can get it all in the tank bag...:roflblack: But really we travel light with mix and match items as well as drip dry . We also take older items that we can get rid of and replace with some newer snazzy ones...

Sounds like a fun trip. Living most of my life in New England I know what that countryside is like and know how much you'll enjoy it. Have a local beer for me😜😜😜

:dontknow: It's just two days...
You could be happy with a couple of toothbrushes, and a Platinum MasterCard. :D
But roll your clothes, and don't be afraid to buy what you need along the way!

All good advice above. Over packing is the bane of most everyone. I can go to Hawaii for a whole week and its all in my carry on.

Our week long to Whitehorse/Skagway, I carried all my stuff in the frunk bag and used the two saddlebags and trunk for each of the other two ladies that were along.

:D This is starting to sound like a VERY interesting story... :D

"What happens in Whitehorse..." :roflblack:

Must have been small ladies if they could fit in the saddlebags!:roflblack: Concerned that you got two ladies in three compartments!:yikes:

There will be a bazillion great tips and suggestions about packing, what to take, what to wear, etc. But like Blueknight911 says, one of the biggest keys is what you put your "stuff" into in order to put it into the Frunk or the Trunk. I had a bunch of great little bags all sized for just what they were to hold and all segregated and I stuffed the Trunk full of my wonderfully sorted things. The missus had the Frunk. When we got to the hotel, I made my three trips back and forth with my arms full of little ditty bags full of this and that while my wife watched and smiled. When I was all done, she reached into the Frunk and pulled out her 99 cent, two handled tyvek type shopping bag from the grocery store full of all her things and commenced to walk past me into the hotel room. All done. One trip.:bowdown:. Her method worked perfectly. The shape of the soft bag conformed to the shape of the compartment and yet she pulled it all out in one motion and walked away with it. I spent the rest of the trip saying "Yes Dear". I'm sure you can guess what I use to pack with now.
