• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Owners Event Vendors?

I plan on attending my first BRP Owners Event at Maggie Valley. My question: do vendors attend this event like SpyderFest? I've read that a couple years ago the owners event was in Maggie Valley so if vendors come, where do they set up? If they're there I don't want to miss them! I would think BRP would like them to come because they bring in a lot of people.

Thoughts? Comments?

Why don't the vendors set up a vendor village off site. This happens all over the place when a NASCAR race comes to town. On track site vendors pay a hefty fee to be there. Then there are multiple sites around the area where everyone else sets up and don't pay the NASCAR fees

It is very difficult to do that in Maggie Valley, due to local business ordinances. It is possible that there may be a vendor or two set up that way, but the local authorities charge for the privilege and frown on ways to get around their rules.

Vendors at Maggie Valley

I did have the opportuntity to talk with a BRP Rep at spyderfest about this very thing. They were there to see how Len does it and what makes spyderfest a success. Well, they found out that the vendors are a big part of it. Whether the vendors will be allowed in with BRP, who knows, BUT, I do know that Diamond R and Tricled will be in Maggie Valley. We just don't know where.......yet. Keep your fingers crossed.

Please reveal your source of the local ordinance in Maggie Valley that restricts this type of activity.

Last time it was city council under police threat. I was present at one location. the vendor had the property owners permission, One city officical came bye with Hello, but the next one did the threating. This was at last owners event in Maggie Valley. They say, it protects local business. Common sense in trying to say, local people did not sell the same stuff, did not work at city hall. Lots of nice people in area though. Stop by and see Wheel trought Time Museum. Oldmanzues

Thanks for the replies NancysToy and Oldmanzues

I think there are so many things that make SpyderFest a success and Vendor Village is a big part of that. It would be a huge benefit and good to have BRP see this and Maggie Valley realize that more visitors in a two day period would benefit the local economy far more than keeping a vendor from selling and installing a product not a single local business owner carries. I need a reason to go the Owners Event beside seeing a bunch of new Spyders, I can go to my local dealer to test drive the newest model. I have a great 2012 RT and I just want to improve it with more mods

SpyderFest has grown larger than the Owners Event and Vendor Village is huge part of that....Len's secret pie run helps too.

BRP puts on this event for the owners, at no cost, just to celebrate the Spyder and to reward us for our purchases and our loyalty. They have stuff for sale and sometimes to demo, but that is not their purpose. It is a simple "thank you" for our business. If you need additional reasons to attend, it is probably not the event for you. If someone offers you a free lunch, it isn't really polite to ask for dessert too.

I talked with Reggie with Tricled, he is going as a Spyder owner to enjoy the event and ride and enjoy everything like we do.

Patti and I are going as owners. It has been made clear that no vendors are allowed and we understand that. But as an owner, the only method we have to transport our RT is in our trailer and we will need to be able to park it at the hotel. I will have to call and make sure this is not a problem with the city. If for some reason it is we will have to reconsider the trip.

enjoy the ride

I don't think this has anything to do with asking for dessert too or disrespecting the host. It has everything to do with making the most of the trips we take. I couldn't agree with you more, it sounds like the Owners Event is not for me. See everyone at Lamonts BBQ.

Now I know I am most likely going to get flamed here but let me through this out there first. I like that the owners event does to have a vendors tent area. I know that the vendors need to make a living and I support them always when I can. And I know folks need to continuously buy stuff to support their Farkle habits or they go into withdrawal. But sometimes it's just nice to sit down and talk with folks and have the time to meet and carry on a conversation. Eat some good food and just sit back without waiting on lines for installation of the latest gadget. It's also great to just ride my Spyder on great roads with good friends without worrying if I am going to miss out on getting a deal on that widget that there were only two left so I better hurry back. The thing that was the most unforgettable experience about the last Owners event for me was have a rep from BRP play a practical joke on me by giving me my registration packet in French. When I asked for an English version he said" No I have to learn French!" The rest of the event any time he saw me he would only speak to me in French! Very Funny and a really nice Guy. That is what the owners event is about meeting folks, getting to know the BRP staff and thanking them for thanking us. Not shinny stuff.
