• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Overwhelmed........

Nobody in the country is beating that dealer in Texas pricing right now. For example, they are selling new 2012 RT's on Ebay for 18k. I say, fly to Texas and save thousands.

I certainly do that also...was just wondering how much the dealers would discount with the 2013's coming out.

I am searching for/reading about/researching Spyders. I have lurked on this site for weeks. ;) I am overwhelmed with the amount of literature I have read along with the subtle differences in newer model Spyders. I am at the point where everything is all jumbled up in my head and I want the buying process over with so we can get on with riding! From everywhere I have searched (using the magic of the Interwebs) I am finding HUGE price discrepancies from forums, to craigslist, to ebay, to ebay dealers. I am pretty sure :dontknow: that I am in the market for a RSS SM5. I found a 2012 that fits my needs in Greenville, TX at Louis Motorsports. The out the door price is 14k, although I would have to register it and pay taxes once back home in Tennessee. I am all about a fly and ride from Tx :ohyea: as I have a week off next week for our school's fall break. I think I can fly for around $100. Am I missing something here? I am finding this same Spyder model everywhere else for $16,000 and higher; sometimes those are used bikes for that price. It is the color I want and everything seems legitimate. Is something going on that has devalued these machines to the point that private sellers owe more than they are worth? I am overwhelmed to the point I have created a spreadsheet to try to figure it all out. Your input is valued and much appreciated.

I look forward to Spyder ownership (if I can ever get past the confusion stage of buying one) and hopefully meeting some of you folks to ride with. Any tips, hints, do's, don't do's, etc. are welcome. Thanks for providing an awesome forum; I think it fairly represents the positives and negatives of the bikes.

Best,
Katie
(I still have questions galore; I see the older models are prone to recalls, Can Am has changed the badging since they introduced the Spyder to the market and I still have not figured out the differences in those models!)

myself and a friend both bought 2012 RSS SE5 :f_spider: from Louis and had them shipped with no problems. bes prices around....nojoke

Last week when I was checking there was a Green RSS-SM5 advertised for 14,299 or 14,399 (I forget) in Mississippi. That might be an option for you depending on OTD.

This time of year when the new models come out it gets really nutty. In January of 2010 I Bought a 2009 RS SE for $14,500 when it listed for $18,900 just four months earlier. Good deals are out there and some dealers will deal and others just hold on to high list prices.

Gee... That sure sounds as if Holly is getting her Christmas present a bit early this year!

And a shakedown cruise to break it in! :ohyea::ohyea: :ohyea: :2thumbs:

Update....

I am currently working with the local Can Am guy in negotiations on a 2012 RSS. Thanks to the encouragement from you folks, I have convinced the local guy to match the pricing I have found out there. Funny thing is that in the beginning of our discussions he showed me *HIS* (???) pricing guide then as our discussions progressed confessed that his sister and brother-in-law bought their Spyder in TX and had it shipped to East TN for 4K less than he was selling them for, even at *HIS* price. I guess that since he is sitting on quite a few 2012 models he is willing to entertain my discussion. I also think he realizes that I am serious about taking my money on the road and that the adventure of a fly and ride is exciting to me.

Thanks for the help thus far,
Katie

Good luck! East Tennessee FOR LIFE!!! (throws gang signs)

Good luck with your upcoming purchase, as it certainly sounds like you'll be joining the ranks of Spyder owners soon. We bought an RT Limited from Louis Powersports recently...our local dealer said he'd match the price but he didn't have what we wanted. The folks out there were very good; we thought about shipping the Spyder but wanted to see it in person. Had to take it in for it's first service when we got back into town since it was well over the 600 miles by then.

You would never know Louis Powersports have the inventory or great prices. Their website has issues. Click on preowned and it shows you the generic page for new. They would benefit by getting the site working better and listing what they have.

Website

With the prices and options that Lewis is offering, they can do whatever they want with their website.

What good is a fancy website when you offer the same product for more money???

Teddy & I WISH YOU LUCK on obtaining your Newest Addiction & Welcome 2 the SpyderHood

:yikes:The negotiation process can be rough, but OH SO WORTH IT ;)

Hope all goes well & make sure to post pics when you get your New Ryde:thumbup:
