I am searching for/reading about/researching Spyders. I have lurked on this site for weeks.

I am overwhelmed with the amount of literature I have read along with the subtle differences in newer model Spyders. I am at the point where everything is all jumbled up in my head and I want the buying process over with so we can get on with riding! From everywhere I have searched (using the magic of the Interwebs) I am finding HUGE price discrepancies from forums, to craigslist, to ebay, to ebay dealers. I am pretty sure :dontknow: that I am in the market for a RSS SM5. I found a 2012 that fits my needs in Greenville, TX at Louis Motorsports. The out the door price is 14k, although I would have to register it and pay taxes once back home in Tennessee. I am all about a fly and ride from Tx

hyea: as I have a week off next week for our school's fall break. I think I can fly for around $100. Am I missing something here? I am finding this same Spyder model everywhere else for $16,000 and higher; sometimes those are used bikes for that price. It is the color I want and everything seems legitimate. Is something going on that has devalued these machines to the point that private sellers owe more than they are worth? I am overwhelmed to the point I have created a spreadsheet to try to figure it all out. Your input is valued and much appreciated.
I look forward to Spyder ownership (if I can ever get past the confusion stage of buying one) and hopefully meeting some of you folks to ride with. Any tips, hints, do's, don't do's, etc. are welcome. Thanks for providing an awesome forum; I think it fairly represents the positives and negatives of the bikes.
Best,
Katie
(I still have questions galore; I see the older models are prone to recalls, Can Am has changed the badging since they introduced the Spyder to the market and I still have not figured out the differences in those models!)
