• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Overlooked critical motercycle gear

Thanks... it is.

I guess that I'll let the cat out of the bag; it's not as if I've shied away from telling stuff like this before.

My Dad passed away early on Sunday morning. He was 88, and had lived one helluva good life. His passing was on his own terms. We're all kind of keeping an eye on Mom right now...

 for you and your family. Lost both my brother and father in 2015. Dale

Bob, Sorry about the loss of your father. Been there and done that with both parents.

Prayers for you and your family

Sorry for the hijack on this thread... :opps:

This is not all that sad of an event. Dad's quality of life was shot to Hell, and he drew a line in the sand, and told the nurses to remove all of the medications, and just give him painkillers.
He picked his spot... We should all be so lucky!

We'll miss him; we don't want him back here, if he's going to just "exist".

Read his Obituary... I posted the link in a previous thread. He left nothing on the table., and we should all strive for that.

People, People, People - I'm probably more attuned than most to negative types of posting .............sooooooooooo give Him a break ..... He is offering a very well intentioned suggestion ...... the Key word here is ...... " OFFERING " info .... if He had worded this " If you don't wear this armor I'll come over and torch your Spyder " :yikes: ..... Well that would be different, but He didn't ..... ride safe, ride happy ...... and let's all treat each other like we would expect to be treated ............ Mike

Very true, we are all adults here. I am just providing the facts, people can decide what they want to do with it. Also, I don't 'worry' about it. 'Preparation' is the word of the day.

It is also true that racers and dirt bikes are more likely to wear a chest piece. But really, riding on the street is more dangerous. When racing or trail riding there are no big vehicles crossing your path.

Condolences to you and your family Bob, that kind of loss is never easy.

Back on topic though, I had a serious RTA a few years ago when I came off a Divvy 900 (at around 25MPH!) I suffered a minor head injury, dislocated shoulder, 3 BROKEN RIBS resulting in a punctured lung, as well as a broken femur and the loss of my spleen and a kidney, so, the inclusion of chest protection may well have saved me from those broken ribs and busted lung. Wouldn't have done much for the other stuff though but every little helps.

TBH I didn't even know chest protectors were available and I've been riding since 1980...

PS that accident is what put me on 3 wheels.
