It's the chest protector. Chest trauma is the #2 cause of injury and death just after the head. I find it interesting that there have been many studies focusing on head trauma but not chest. When you see that someone died who was wearing a helmet its likely they died from a chest hit.

Yet most MC jackets do not have chest protectors. But there are some options. This video that was just published discusses a few. I wear the Helite air bag vest. But admittedly, it's an expensive option.

True....

they are present in the motocross and the racing but not so much in the street and touring..Sadly . I remember when we got our first mess body armor in the shop and we sold out in a heartbeat.....to the Hollywood/Magic Mountain stuntmen. Sold few elsewhere....:banghead:

Wouldn't you say the chest protector is mainly for track riders, and motocrossers where a damaging blow to the chest is more prevalent? I say wear whatever you feel comfortable with.

I know quite a few road racer friends who wear chest protectors now. I have body armor for dirt bikes. I'm not so inclined to wear one on the Spyder, but might on a sportbike.

the thing he didn't mention is something is better then nothing and what i mean is those who don't wear helmet
or gloves or jacket or pants or shoes.
full face or salad bowl, full glove or open finger, reinforced jacket or windbreaker.....

I was thinking of emergency braking; other than arm strength, there's not much to keep the driver from hitting the windshield and losing control.

I guess that I'll let the cat out of the bag; it's not as if I've shied away from telling stuff like this before.

My Dad passed away early on Sunday morning. He was 88, and had lived one helluva good life. His passing was on his own terms. We're all kind of keeping an eye on Mom right now...
