• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Our bikes disagree about everything!

Our Spyders don't agree about anything...they are off when it comes to speed, distance driven and outside temperature! Oh, well...WE are in agreement that they are a blast to drive. That's all that counts!

:agree: my gps doesnt agree with the :spyder:on speed i always go by my GPS for speed. it seems to b the same on newer cars also the faster u go the more it is off . I think its just a way to rack up more miles on them cause it adds up fast. if ur going 65 an the speedo reads 68 its adding miles u never drove. an when u have a warranty it goes faster.?? just my opinion. my older cars r wright on.

Funny, I sometimes have my Garmin 550 navigator GPS running. Then I have a second Garmin GPAMAP 76 or 76 CSx going too. It's a Geocaching thing.
Between them and my Spyder's speedo, I can get three different readings within 3 MPH. :banghead:

Speed..!

I remember when they moved the speedo dial on the cars so the needle was past top dead center at 50 to make you feel you were going faster than you should...:roflblack: I remember when they had shops to adjust your speedometer especially if you were contesting a speeding ticket. :roflblack: geez I'm old...

Well, at least Ed's bike and the GPS tend to be on the same speed. The RT tends to be about 2 mph slower (I guess I'd rather have it making me think I'm going faster than I really am, than the other way around, though...particularly if there is a LEO in the speed discussion). When we are getting gas, he usually will have traveled somewhere between 4 and 6 miles more than I have, even though we gassed up at exactly the same places...so he's going farther and faster than me! :hun: Not sure what to make of the differences in temperature reading...the RT tends to read higher, but it varies from 2 to 5 degrees.

Years ago, cars came from the factory with speedometers that read 3mph faster than actual speed. I guess that was supposed to be an engineered safety factor.
When I got my DL the law on speeding was "Reasonable and Prudent".:yikes:

I don't think speed has anything to do with miles driven (odometer reading) or warranty.

But yes Cheryl, our spyders disagree on things too. My low fuel warning comes on way sooner than Kris'. The temp gauges are off too. And... the speedometers differ as well. Distance isn't an issue. Her's is a 2010 mine is a 2012. Would be interesting to see which one is the more accurate.

Randy (Arntufun) & I noticed the same thing at last years SITA get together

Our miles traveled were always off by 3-6 miles between fuel ups, even tho we were following right behind each other the entire trip:dontknow:

Also, Teds Red Sled would usually show 2 mph difference between the digital speedo & the Garmin
:banghead:tho I'm  Happy  to report, that has since been corrected now that we have larger diameter tires on the front & rear, shows exactly the same now as the digital speedo & the Garmin

I wonder if the computer in the spyder is calculating for load, throttle position, shifting patterns, and other things that the ryder might do different? Or am I way off base here?:dontknow:

It would take someone smarter than me to answer this one.

Our :spyder2:'s are pretty close--but not exactly the same either. MPH is about a mile per hour off difference. Miles driven is about a 10th on a hundred mile or more trip.

I was thinking it had to do with difference in tires. The distance was more until I replaced the last tires on my 2010--then with similar new tires on both machines--the differences became pretty close. It does not matter--just something to speculate about on a Monday morning. :roflblack:
