• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ordered the ISCI boards and brake extension

I was very hesitant to order the brake extension, and was concerned it might void my warranty. The sales manager at my dealer assured me it would not. I guess the only concern (other than the cost) is how difficult was it to get used to raising your foot to brake?

I imagine like anything else it will take a bit of getting used to, but since I am so new at owning the spider it might be easier than if I had been riding it for a long time.

Incidentally, Billy Jones seems like an honest guy who will be there to help if I have any problems.

I am looking forward to having the boards and extension on Thursday and having them installed on Friday. Perhaps than I will find the wonderful spyder, not only fun , but also comfortable.

From what I've seen I think you'll love these products.

A note about 'voiding' a Spyder warranty...... Just adding a product to the Spyder cannot in itself void your warranty. First there has to be a failure of something, then it has to be closely related to whatever add-on you installed. They cannot just 'void' an entire warranty... they can just choose not to cover something that failed due to your aftermarket add-on.

So don't sweat such add-ons.

I just received my ISCI floorboards today. I got the straight line design. They look great! I can't wait to install them. I'm just waiting for the brake extention and shift lever kits to be shipped which I ordered today. The quality of these products is top notch! I have other upgrades as well which I'm adding to my spyder. I'll posts pics once it is all complete.

Make sure you order the hinged foot brake so you can put the handbrake on down the road.

I had to put on the handbrake after the floorboards it is hard to keep your foot up on the brake when you need to in a turn did not feel safe to me. I had got the fixed brake pedal so I had to sale that one.

Valid point about the brakes

I have to see how they work out-of course there will be no choice once the brake pedal is cut. In fact since the boards use the peg mount I guess there is no way to put the board on and use the original brake. I wonder if there is a way to construct a sort of platform or peg so if you are going through a lot of tight turns your foot could rest up at the brake height?

Just picked up my Spyder from it's 22,000 service. I had Jason And Mike at East Tn ATV and Powersports (my Can Am Dealer) install my new ISCI hwy. pegs and handbrake that I ordered last Wednesday, along with the new sway bar. Wow what a difference! Better cornering and when cruising a lot more leg room and a little security with the hand brake. Hopefully I'll be able to install the Mantis fairing soon, if I get a windshield. I'm going to give the :spyder: a good cleaning for The Ride 4 the Red on Saturday and will post some pics of the new goodies asap.
Billy Joe is Great! Did I mention their customer service...AAA:thumbup:

Dealer will not install

My dealer wil not install any aftermarket accessories. The other local dealer I spoke with refused to modify the brake pedal. I am getting a bit nervous about the safety of the brake extension given that you have to lift your foot to apply it. I do not want to spend another $1250. for the handbrake, though it is tempting.

I may see if there is some way to install a short peg or the like for when I am doing a lot of cornering r the like so my foot is basically on the pedal. of course that will be of little use if I need to make a panic stop, with my feet on the boards.

That is why the handbrake is on mine. If your feet is away from the brake you need security of hand brake. If you can't do the install yourself, there are probably some fellow :spyder: friends who live near you that could assist.

only way to go

Having a hand brake on the spyder is the only way to ride IMHO. The ISCI system is easy to install and works like a charm.
