Option prices

Called my dealer this morning to have him check on when they would be getting the options in and to give me an installed price on what I wanted.
He said the sales rep told him most of the optional equipment would be shipping soon.
I asked him to work me up a price for the CB, GPS, Headsets, and installation. He just called me back. Here it is: $2670.00, that includes labor (3 hours for CB, 2 hours for GPS and I would install my own headsets). That also includes a 10% discount!
I told him he could forget the GPS, I'll just buy one and install it myself.
What do you guys think? I liked the guys at the dealership, but I kinda think this is a bit much.

Well, the RTS accessories alone are a bit steep. List on these items is $2,380, before your discount. You could probably buy aftermarket for as low as $1,000-$1,500, but that would not include mounts, and they would not be integrated. I don't think five hours labor is outrageous. Lots of body panels must be removed for these installations, both front and back. It won't be quick. BRP estimates two hours just to install the trailer hitch and wiring, so this is the same ballpark. Five hours would probably beat what I could do the first time around.

It comes down to what you are willing to pay, and how integrated you want it to be. The factory systems are always expensive. The only alternative is to give away some of the convenience, and do the work yourself. Even then, it could be a struggle. No handlebar space to attach a CB, for instance, and great difficulty grounding and tuning a CB antenna.

:agree: "Dwight" with you on that. I looked up the price for a Garmin Zumo 660, I found it for $620.00 on the internet, I guess the mount kit makes up the difference ($1199.99 a bit much). :dontknow:

I bought RT-S, I believe it came with the CB.

If you are talking about the standard Garmin Zumo, there is no place to plug it in. The BRP mount has the mounting adapter, the socket for the handlebars, and the wiring to connect it and intergrate it to the audio system and connect the power. That wiring all connects beneath the bodywork, with the jack(s) mounting in the center of the handlebar.

The RT-S does not come standard with the CB/Comm system.

philisophical approach: my story.....

Everyone is at a different place in life, I just sold one of my cars that brought me alot of Joy the last four years .but after
trying this new experience out, I was yearning to get in the seat and ride, and wow BRP hit it out of the ballpark with this.
So to me this is priceless, I just drove her home after signing all the paperwork and I was paying cash

and I gotta tell ya, the price you were quoted, isn't the whole story so it is hard to say if you really got a good deal or got
screwed. What you paid for the bike, the PDI, the extended warranty,and if you took the maintenance agreement all plays
into the bigger picture," FUN is or can be Expensive" and I want my dealership to be around so I negotiated really hard on
everything and let them make some money on the warranties, this way I will be taken care of if something goes wrong.

I for around $2200 + tax, and install doing all three at the same time was 3.6 hrs instead of 5.4 separately ordered the
CB,XM,GPS. the headsets you are talking about, are they the can am ones? for like $189 ea.

Thanks guys for the replies.
My sales guy did say he could probably reduce install time if I did it all at once. I'll call him again and see if I can negotiate a better price. I'd still like to have the GPS but after riding my RT I think a better place to mount it would be on the dash above where the safety card is. It seems to me if it was on the dash you wouldn't have to remove your eyes from the road to look at it. I tried looking down at where it would mount while riding and you can't see any of the road!
BTW, I paid MSRP for the RT-S.

Update

Stopped in at the dealers on Saturday. Got to talk to the owner about the prices for the options. Ended up getting it lowered enough so that I went ahead and gave them a deposit to guarentee they would be mine when they come in. I'm happy now.:clap:
