• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Open letter to BRP. (As sent to Spyder Team)

I agree that BRP needs to improve parts availability for warranty issues, and make them a priority. I waited three months for a windshield on warranty, which promptly cracked, too. Now we have been waiting four months for another, and additional parts. They don't even have all the parts necessary to do oil changes. This is unacceptable! The dealer also says they cannot do the parking brake fix because parts are backordered. Insane, this was a factory recall, and they should have produced a bunch of them. We are told that due to difficulties in meeting demands for new machines, parts priority goes to the assembly line. This does not seem right, but BRP runs their business according to their own philosophies, and changing the mind of any French/Canadian has always been a challenge. The complaints never seem to register. Here's hoping we all see improvement down the road, but I, for one, will not hold my breath.

Sad situation (parts non-availablity), but hardly uncommon. Last Fall I got a recall on the cruise control on my Ford Ranger. The initial fix was to unhook the unit. Six months later I got a call from the dealer asking me to bring the truck in so they could install the new parts.

se5 won't shift

:agree: brp doesn't care, and this shifting problem is happening to more and more se5 owners. it really sucks when we spend this much money and can't ride and they don't care!!!!!

Don't really know how many SEs are actually getting trouble but seems a good number. I put it in to be checked for the problem and to get the 600 service.

I rec'd my Silver SE5 about 4 weeks ago. It's starting to get fairly cool here now though. I did the 1000km service a few weeks ago and now have 3000km (~1,900miles). I am very happy to date. I too, do most of my own downshifting (at about 3.0 - 3.5k rpm) I shift at around 6,000 rpm most of the time and it has been as smooth as silk. I hope that brp gets you fixed up soon. I think I am happy that I decided to take the Silver one rather than wait an extra month or two for the red.

Cool or COOL?

Glad you are enjoying the Spyder trouble free. Last four out of five pieces of transportation have been red. The other, a silver Saturn could never be found in a parking lot after shopping!. I really had no other choice!

Guess your idea of "fairly cool" and mine are a bit different. It is getting ALL THE WAY DOWN to about 50F at night and only up to the high seventies during the day. Enjoy while you can.

Very sorry to hear about yourself and your Spyder.....But it always just seems odd to me when people feel it necessary add Personal Things in letters to try and get some sort of Sympathy from Businesses in hopes of getting work done faster.....Or am I just wrong and have Drank too much coffee??? Can you tell me why you felt you needed to add it and did it work??? If it did,,,,Maybe in my next letter I shoot out Ill add that because of my Diverticulitis my Sphincter doesnt like my Ford over my Spyder and as a Result Ive started Sharting....:joke:

are you really that miserable of a person, or are you just a moron? im banking on moron, if u cant say something nice then move on...nobody wants to hear ur crap

Although it's nice to add a personal touch to letters, at times, let's be honest here...

If he didn't receive a response, it probably doesn't matter what he put in the letter! I do agree that a letter of complaint should be 'matter of fact' based, but in this case we have to question if the letter was even read?

The important issue is why BRP is not helping a customer with a product under warranty! Their customer service dept. should've been all over this and at least given him a call.

It appears as if this is becoming a theme with the SE5 model. There seem to be a lot of ryders out there with problems...too many! On that note, it seems like many people are having issues with getting dealerships/BRP take care of their problems...in many cases, it seems like the dealerships are ill-equipped to deal with such situations.

BRP has to do better...the Spyders have needs besides maintenance...the dealerships and BRP have to stand behind their product!
