There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It may be the beer or perhaps the shot of whiskey talking but I say kudos to the kid. Yes he is a cop and yes most of us wouldn't have cared much, but if we parked our bikes like that we would have gotten a ticket without fail. Besides that if a citizen asks a police officer for their badge number several times, if they are not doing something wrong, they gladly give it. Call me an a hole if you want but I still say kudos to the kid.

I think the kid was 100% correct and quite respectful. The cop however was way out place. He is supposed to set an example and now that kid may some day decide that if the law doesn't obey the law why should he. It is a shame he did not get the license plate. That with the time and place could have been enough to report the cop.

I don't share the views of most who posted on this thread, so maybe someone can explain to me how it is that a person who is hired to enforce the laws in this country can and does put himself above the very laws that he is hired to enforce. I know that this sort of thing goes on in other countries, but we claim to be better than those places.
Maybe I missed something but nothing I heard in the video sounded disrespectful towards the officer and while the issue of parking on a public sidewalk may seem a bit trivial, I challenge anyone who is not law enforcement to do the same and not expect to be reprimanded if seen by an officer of the law. The bigger issue to me is the fact that the officer would not provide his badge number and even accused the person making the video of loitering and generally talking down to him. Please don't think that some how I am against law enforcement or police. I am not. My son-in-law is a retired police officer. My view is that one performs the job they are hired to do without taking liberties that they are not entitled to just because of their position, be that law enforcement, politicians or anything else.

This thread took an interesting turn--but--the other side has some valid points also. In this time, and at my age, I don't see myself challenging the law if they are doing something such as the incident mentioned. Some officers would go out of their way to make your life miserable if you were to try the above. They do have a lot of leverage and a lot of friends. :dontknow: I prefer to fight my battles carefully and don't go looking for new ones.

Actually in the 40 or so years I spent in Law Enforcement I saw this quite a bit. Authoritarian, dominating unloving parents wind up with kids who strike back at their parents through other authority figures. It may be "The Government" or individual representatives like Cops or the Military. The smarter the kids the more inventive the aggression. It can be passive in that they become CNN Anchors (LOL) or active like a Serial Bomber. Or as in this case trying to "catch" the cop doing something wrong thus proving that he is only Hunan after all and not a God like the kids parents portray themselves to be. "So much of the crime that winds up in our society could be reduced if we could only return to loving family and moral values." That's a loosely translated quote from a Roman Senator in 380 AD.
