He steered right to keep the bike from falling over. A natural reaction for a 2 wheel rider. But he'd have been much better off letting it fall to the left than keeping it upright as he did.

20-20 hind sight, of course. But 20-20 hindsight would have kept him from hitting the post in the 1st place. Bad deal all the way. It's lucky that the bike didn't go to the bottom of the ocean/lake there.
