One for brp

After many visits and phone calls to owner of dealer and his calls to kurt the head engineer at brp, they are fixing my spyder, no charge.

I complained about brp here but I will give them two thumbs this time because brp did not have to do this for spyder out of warranty. I am still ticked off at service manager, son of the owner for not stepping up to stand behind their work but at least it is getting done.

It looks like brp is supplying the parts and dealer is supplying the labor according to the owner. He said brp is giving him a hand with this so I am assuming brp is sending the parts. I did not ask many question but just said thank you.
According to parts list of 2 of everything, cylinder, heads, rods, pistons and whole set of parts need to put them together and crankshaft, oli pump, only thing remaining of original engine will be block itself.

Owner promised it will be done carefully and promptly this time, may the third time is the charm...

Thank you and for those who are not familiar with my spyder, it's been in shop since last October, basically.
Same dealer rebuilt the motor twice and both failed at 450 and 17 miles. 3rd party warranty company denied the claim this time and brp is helping out.

I know you are accepting what they are prescribing, and that may be your only option.

I would never let that dealer rebuild my motor again after what you've gone through so far.

:agree: You might consider having them ride it for a week or two after the rebuild, just for luck.

What I don't get really... is why is BRP bothering with a rebuild given the extent of the labor involved? Why not just send a new motor and be done with it with less chance of another failure?

:agree: After they rebuild it, find out what they will give you for it as a trade in. Let them worry about it. Or, trailer it to another dealer and trade it, after all it's newly rebuilt!!opcorn:

Unfortunately I have to let them do it again or shell out $6-7000 for repair.
I know luck should not play a roll but I could use some...
I am hoping with owner of dealer keeping his eye on it and mechanic who wants questions about his workmanship cleared, they just might get it right this time.

Swung by the dealer and they are going to appraise my spyder as a running bike right now so if they don't try to take advantage of the situation, I will be riding outta there on a 2011 rs.

By the way, on funny way these companies do things, brp is paying for labor and dealer pays for parts.
I assumed it was the way around where each co. would supply what they have at their disposal but...

2 month into it, they are still not done with "collecting" all the parts.
3 weeks ago, dealer said all parts were in and I should get spyder back last week but now they are saying they got a defective head plus need more parts which some are on backorder with no available date.

Could it be the dealer giving me the run around or brp just not having parts available?

Either way, I don't find neither acceptable.

I sent Carlo email that my spyder has been sitting at dealer since September of 2010, basically for main shaft replacement plus more engine rebuild, along with thanks for his previous help.

Still, I'v ridden my spyder for 800 some miles since September of 2010 with no end in sight of this while making payments and paying for insurance.

I really don't like saying this but have thought about contacting a lawyer? Loss of use of the product. Lemon law in CA?

:gaah: I have to agree with Allen. What legal recourse (If any!) might you have in California via any applicable "Lemon Laws"?

At this point, actually I would have done it long ago, I'd be checking to see if your state has a lemon law AND contact an attorney. I'd also be looking for a new dealer, even if I had to drive 3 hours to get there. What they have done, or in this case, not done, is inexcusable. :wrong: I wouldn't trade it in with them either, unless they give you the deal of a lifetime.....then get the heck out of there! :trike Good luck with your rebuild. :thumbup:

I've tried, before the engine failures.
My spyder had all kinda problems and brp threw a lot of parts at it and when it went in for main shaft replacement, I thought this may be the end of my ordeal... never had engine problem.

Anywho, brp's big time attorney mop the floor with my "will work for food" lawyer. His last words were "it's not what happened that's important but what can be proven is in court of law."

Carlo called and said he is trying to locate that missing part.
