• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

One bad thing about the new Corbin seat

RT-S PE#783
Yesterday we took a ryde over the hill to Happy Camp, CA, the home of Big Foot. It just so happened that's where the RT odometer rolled over 5,000 miles.

It was such an awesome day and since it was our first 2-up ryde after the RT's 'annual service' and installing the new Corbin seat, we decided to take the long way home. We rode East to Yreka and then North on Interstate 5. . . . about 250 miles.

The RT just purrs along and really handles well in the turns. However, the downside to having the new Corbin seat, the ryde is so comfortable we didn't stop but once to take pics. Last year we did the same ride on the Suzuki 1500 and by the time we got to Yreka, we were ready to take another break . . . a looooong break . . . . and were really dreading I-5. But yesterday, no problem!!!

It just keeps on getting better! :2thumbs:

FYI- there is a issue that another member found on the first molds of the RT seats. Check the passenger switch on the bottom of the seat and make sure the wires are not hitting on the frame. I checked mine and they were. My understanding is they are changing the mold now. I just pulled mine out and have it tucked in with the battery. Not sure if you have the old style or the new style but you might want to give it a look.

Thanks we will. :2thumbs:

We love the Corbin seats, they were our first mods on both the RS and RT (along with the RT backrest). IMHO, there is absolutely no comparison between stock and the Corbin. Rode all day yesterday and no TB (tired butt) whatsoever. After the same ride last year, we were duck waddling for a while...... this year, I never did get tired.:2thumbs:

The Corbin site has pics posted, but if you need more, let us know.

Did you get either back rest with your Corbin? I'm interested in how the drivers back rest feels, and if the original passenger back rest at all matches the Corbin seat. I don't ride two-up, so I'm not worried about passenger comfort, but I don't want something that just looks badly mismatched.

Thanks

We do have Corbin's RT passenger backrest which matches the Corbin seat, but I don't think it would look bad if you ordered a Corbin seat with thread color and leather texture to match the stock backrest. I think if you were to tell them what you wanted to accomplish, they would work with you on it.

We ordered the drivers back rest that was recommended by Corbin's salesperson (Tee-oval) but sent it back ( the hole in it, it was way too big and too closely resembled a toilet seat :yikes:) . We may, at some point in the future, order another driver's back rest (to use as a passenger backrest on the RS), but it will be a small one and certainly NOT an oval :joke:

I have a question, which is probably obvious, but I want to make sure. I've read about the passenger wire issue. Does the Corbin seat have the connection to use this wire or is it just laying there unused with the Corbin?

Thanks for the detail on the wiring. :2thumbs:
We just got home after a loooong ryde (after picking up the RS from our dealer who fixed the clutch and installed the KewlMetal risers ), and have plans to play with our Spyders all weekend :yes:
Checking that wiring is top on our list. Thanks again!!!

Sounds like a great ride. Next time just keep on coming this way and we can hook up. :D

The Corbin seat is very nice compared to the stock seat.

Corbin Backrest

Two questions: Can the installed backrest be removed without too much trouble? Can the backrest be installed at a later date or must it be done when the seat is shaped and covered?

It comes off real easy and can be installed at a later date if you choose to. 5 torx heads and off it comes

Thanks...

That's how I hoped it would be. I'm concerned that my wife, who has very short legs, will struggle to get on and off even when it's laid flat.
