Good evening! Hubby is traveling with some friends in Wyoming. Currently in Cody. Earlier this evening they were traveling from north of Yellowstone, he had about half a tank of gas and when they stopped for fuel he topped off the tank. Got about 5 miles down the road and the check engine light came on. Spyder seems to be running fine and no other issues with it. We have a 2012 RT Limited. They are spending the night in Cody and then will be heading to Sturgis tomorrow. They will be going right past Gillette which has the closest CanAm dealer. I went through some recent threads and found one from May posted by Johnny Swindler that may be of some help. Also tried to find the thread that told how to pull the codes but of course when you are looking for it you can't find it! Any advice you can give would be much appreciated!! Biggest question is would it be advisable to try and drive into Gillette if there are no other issues other than the check engine light? We just had it in for the 5000 mile service not too long ago. We currently have around 8500 mile on it I think. We just did a 1450 mile loop through the Big Horns about 3 weeks ago with no issues at all.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

If I recall you get the codes with the engine on, press Mode and Set and then with your other hand also press the turn signal clear (all 3 down at the same time). I think that's right.

The advice you gave to use Mode. Set, and Turn Signal clear is correct for active codes on an RT. The link you posted gives the procedure for getting active codes on an RS. Cotton

If he has any codes tomorrow he may want to stop at the dealer. The Gillette dealer is really nice and they recently helped Spyder 5 Fred Rau when his Spyder broked down on a 10,000 mile trip.

Does the code remain...
When you pull the code from the Spyder, does it remain? I got a Limp Mode (Overheating code) and didn't want to pull the code myself because I thought it would erase it, and the dealer wouldn't be able to retrieve it when I bring it in tomorrow.
If I check the code myself, will the dealer still be able to pull the same code or is it erased after I check the code?

The dealer can read all occurred codes until he clears them. It doesn't matter whether or not you dissplayed them.

My bike was trailered to the shop this afternoon. Guess they will retrieve the code. Got an RT Ltd as a loaner...only 160 miles on it.

Talked to Hubby a couple hours ago. They gassed up in Cody this am and he made sure he got a tank of the 'good stuff', 91 octane and pure gas, no ethanol. He said by the time they stopped for next fuel-up, the check engine light was gone. No other issues today. So they didn't stop in Gillette. Said he may check in with the dealer in Rapid City where we purchased the Spyder. But so far so good!! I think tho' that I am suffering Spyder withdrawl!! I haven't driven it for a week!! What's the old saying- 7 days without a Spyder ryde makes one weak!! Or was that pye?! Lol! Wish the budget would allow us to be a 2 Spyder family......some day! To add to Nancystoy comment if you turn off the bike and restart it you may not see the code but the
dealer will still be able to retrieve it with BUDS.
