• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have been reading for months now and am having trouble deciding on the 2016 f-3t sm6 or the 2015 f-3s sm6 my dealer has in stock. I planned on getting the 2016 but the end of the season discount is very tempting. It will be my first spyder and I'm honestly not sure of what a good deal looks like. What is a fair price this time of year on this model?

:welcome: The F3-S lacks those very sexy, and useful rear storage compartments. If you ever decided that you wanted to tour with the bike; the f3-T can also be fitted with a BRP hitch...
It's your money, and your choice... :D

It is like dating twins.

One is 10 minutes older, but are brand new. If dating the eldest saves money, I would vote for her. But the hair color is important then go for the one who hair is dyed to your preference. Either way, you won't be unhappy. Just remember to live life like they left the gate open.

:welcome:

I can't spend your money for you (though I'd like to try), but if it was me, I'd go for the touring model. But then, I'm into touring!

I would go for the touring model because the standard F3s just doesn't have enough storage. The only great option that I have seen for the F3s to make it doable for me would be to add a set of corbin bags. I might not do a lot of touring, but I just like having a place to put an extra sweat shirt, gloves, and such for those times when I may need them.
But, as others have said, only you can make the right decision for you.

First of All- The F3 Grows on you-I now have 1,800 Miles and I Love it More every ride.
That being said -I would get the Standard F3 Basic SM6 and have EXTRA $$$ to do what you want At your own Cost?:hun:

specifications

It's worthwhile printing out the specifications for F3T and F3S and comparing. AND compare base to S or Ltd models too, in detail - it might say "all the features of base plus..." but well-worth double-checking each item!!
For instance -
The T gets a better rear shock and official towing capacity
but ... loses fox adjustable front shocks
The T gets a fancier dash
but .... loses some time when starting (have to wait longer to get going..)
The T gets great looking bags
but ... the S can have Givi or Corbin large bags, or brp small ones

then working out which bits are important to you.

Whichever one you buy I'll bet you make some changes/additions, eg upgraded swaybar and laser alignment as a minimum, so I like the suggestion above of buying the base model and adding what you need as and when you find you want it.

Having had an RS and now an ST Ltd, and husband has F3S -- my comment is that when BRP produces a 'tourer' version, eg the ST, they decide that we don't want to do any spirited (= fun fun fun) riding so seem to give us cheaper shocks! That's fine if you're going to upgrade to Elka or something else, but not helpful otherwise. The more I look at the spec's of the F3T compared with F3S, the more I think that, if I were to trade the ST, I'd probably go for the F3S and add a better rear shock and some corbin or givi bags ... BUT this decision is greatly helped by the large potential price difference in oz, so may not be relevant at all for you.

You have to decide -- I just wish we got good $ deals over here, like you do.

Thanks for the advice

After reading the input on this post and doing some math I have decided to wait for the 2016. It will give me more time to save for the down payment and that means more money for gas, oil, tires,BBQ and fried seafood in the spring.

I'm sure you'll be happy with your choice. Don't forget to post some pics when you have it!

Pics are a must on this site and I will be proud to post when the day comes. Thanks for the welcome Bob and Patty, this is a great site to learn from so I'll keep reading and learning for now.

NOW it's time for the REALLY tough question :

What color should you get? :D

Have fun shopping, and download the accessories catalog from BTP; it'll help pass the time!

The one thing I do like about my 2015 F3 is if I don't want to ride with the saddle bags they come off easily and you can't tell they were ever on it. Not sure how the 16 bags are mounted. From the pictures they look to be permanent. Other than that I like the F3T

Oh and I like that my F3 is fully broken in.
