On Star type service

Does anyone know of an On Star type service that we can put on our Spyders or any vehicle we own that is not a GM? The reason I ask is that a week ago some good friend of mine were involved in serious accident on a remote section of UT12 were there was no cell service. Fortunately there was a car with the group with OnStar that was able to get them to alert the sheriff and a hospital to get a life flight on the way with in moments. If they had waited for normal channels of communication there is a very good possibility that one or more of the victims could have died or lost o leg. Any info would be appreciated.

Check out Spot Tracker. It operates off of a satellite signal. There is an article and photo about it in the current Rider Magazine.

Thanks guys. This is the kind of information I am looking for. One thing I did read about the Spot Tracker is that they may charge you for activating the SOS. Not sure how that would work if trying to get help for someone else. It also seems that all of these require you to push something to send the signal. Nice thing about OnStar is if its your vehicle they know almost as sonn as you do. We hit a deer once and they were on the job before we could get off the road. very quick response. I will look closer at these ideas and see which one suits what I want. If anybody has used any one of these devices please chime in.
