• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

On another quest for a new seat

Low cost idea..

Air Hawk cushion.

Also make sure there is nothing in either rear pocket of your pants. No wallet, etc. - all cause for unbalance as you sit and can cause pain.

There were two Spyders at the recent gathering in Springfield, MO - both ad Ultimate seats with Lambs wool cover and a Air Hawk cushion on top of all that.

Don

Happy Air Hawk rider.

:agree::agree: I have the Air Hawk R on my stock seat, & it is really comfortable. No more sore butt. Just blow it up, attach to the seat and off you go.

:agree: +1 on the AirHawk R. I still have the standard seat. I tried a sheepskin to help with the heat, then added a gelpad. They added a half hour or so of riding comfort, but that was all. The kids gave me Amazon gift cards for Father's Day and I sprung for the AirHawk R . I made a couple two hour rides on it, messing with the inflation, but I made my first long ride with it over the weekend. I did 350 miles on Friday and 316 (more direct route) on Sunday, heading home . . . I found I could ride until my low fuel light came on, with no problem . . . no soreness at all ! Some folks complain about the way it feels, but I discovered that leaning side to side, once in a while, was almost like getting a butt massage! It completely changed the pressure points and stretched out the comfort time! The only trick is getting the right level of inflation for you . . . just takes reading the directions and messing with it a couple times. :firstplace:

I really hate to "add" anything to a seat for the practical reason that it's a pain to deal with if you get caught in a sudden down pour. And who wants to sit on a wet sheepskin all day :sour:

Do you mean , "Other than the sheep, that grew it"?

Good stuff here...

...just like to add the Air Hawk seat takes very little air! It is not a balloon. Directions are very good on its use - and if in doubt, use less air.

Mayer Saddles

Check out the Russell Day-Long, and Bill Mayers saddles, you'll need your own seat pan, but they will build to fit, and for around the same price.

Please check the feedback on Mayer saddles on one of the BMW forums.

We need a little more info please. Which forum? Good feedback or bad? I've heard a lot of good things about Bill Mayer Saddles. It sounds like the OP needs a seat that is taller than the stock or Ultimate seats and a Mayer or Day Long could be made to raise him up. I had the same trouble when I was on a 2014 SE with a stock seat. If you have long legs you have to lift them to an unnatural position to apply the brake. Not a problem for me on my SM since they don't have floorboards.

I know you have the used Corbin om it's way.

I also picked up a used Corbin that we are now using.

FWIW, before passing judgment on the Corbin, adjust the driver backrest position front to rear. Our intial rides had the wife loving the Corbin and me not so much.

What I found was the Corbin we have, which is a production seat, has a lot of available front to rear room for the driver. The backrest can be adjusted fore and aft. I had to move the backrest forward I would guess an inch, or so. Since then, the seat has gone from crap fitting to pretty darn close. I still need to make some fine adjustments, but it is very good.

I did my own thing to shim the backrest position, another member here posted a photo of what Corbin sells to make the adjustment. When I spoke to Corbin, I was unsure of what the rep was explaining. The photo made it al clear.

You may already know about all of this, and if so, my apologies for the review.

NO PMK - the review was much appreciated. This is my first Corbin in years and so any suggestions to make it fit better are welcome. On my BMW's, I was a confirmed Sargent user and so I just automatically ordered one when I bought a new bike. They, however, don't make a seat for the Spyder.

I have a cousin in a wheelchair and he's on a type of cushion just like the airhawk and he taught me how to adjust mine to make it perfect. The trick is just enough air to keep you suspended. Which is very little! It's right when you can rock side to side and feel the air displace to the other side, too much and you'll feel like your going to roll off of it. I started out with way too much in mine now it's really thin.
