• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

On another quest for a new seat

Well, I changed from the stock seat to an Ultimate a month ago, but that's not making it for me on the long trips. The Ultimate is a great seat, but it must be pressing on a nerve in my right thigh because after about 300 miles, I can't lift my right leg high enough to use the brake and that situation lasts for about a day afterwards. So, since I was doing a long run up thru Vermont Sunday, I took the time Saturday to change the seat back to stock and sure enough, aside from the sore butt, the leg worked fine.

So now I guess it's down to a Corbin or a BRP comfort seat. Shame too, because other than that, the Ultimate is a great seat.

steve, a new nerve in the leg might be cheaper at $1000.00 a seat!!:roflblack:

Check out the Russell Day-Long, and Bill Mayers saddles, you'll need your own seat pan, but they will build to fit, and for around the same price.

rt. leg going numb

It is most likely the backrest that is the problem. The nerves for your legs come from your lower lumbar vertebrae and discs. As we get older it doesn't take much pressure on the lower back to cause nerve problems down either the rt. or left leg or both depends where the disc is bulging from weakness. You may be like me and cannot use a backrest unless you can raise it above your lumbar area. Your best bet is the large donut type backrest like the Corbin's. It supports your back without the pressure on the lower lumbar discs thus no pressure on the nerves going down your legs. Believe me I know what I'm talking about. Have had 10 back surgeries and all my discs are gone from my shoulder blades too my butt. I look like a robot when you look at my xrays. I can barely feel my legs and feet due to the damage but cannot feel them at all if I use my Ultimate backrest so I'm looking for the donut type to try if I can find one cheap enough. I'm hoping the lower portion of the donut doesn't press on my lumbar area either or I will be back where I started, no backrest.

Steve

P.S. I'm guessing on the Corbin donut backrest and assuming the lower portion of the donut does not rest on the lumbar region at all or you will have the same problem.

I have a BRP Comfort seat with Utopia removable backrest already installed. Would love to work a trade/$$ deal for the Ultimate if its a tall boy version.

If you plan on selling your comfort seat (2" more room & its black) with the Utopia that will fit a 2014 RT, I'm interested..........:-)

I have the comfort seat with utopia back rest and would like to end up with an Ultimate tall boy. If sddinnh does not want to trade, perhaps my best bet is to sell the combo outright and then purchase the Ultimate. Yes, mine is the one with 2" further back seat position and it fits a 2014 fine.

Try this..!!

now that your back to the stock seat add a gel pad, beaded seat or sheepskin and see if that will help before you move to the next major expense..

Sorry JC this is a standard size seat, NOT the tall boy. Otherwise, I'd be happy to work out a deal with you.

Yah the Alaska sheepskin pad was the first thing to go on there yesterday. Although it helps, it's not going to convert a stock seat to a all day seat by itself.. I also have a gel insert that I'll give a shot tonight and tomorrow. The beads always seemed counter-intuitive to me, add some thing hard to make it more comfortable :dontknow:

Bummer,

CentralCoastCA, PM me an offer for the comfort seat with back rest. Its in new condition, not many miles and the bike stays indoors so no fading.

I tried the beads once. While it did provide more air flow so was cooler, it was not more comfortable to me anyway.

I have a Corbin Seat, with rider backrest, passenger backrest that I am about to post in the for sale section. Will also entertain trade talk. :hun: Tom

pictures may help you get rid of it. :)

Well, thanks to Tom, we'll try a Corbin next. It should be up here Friday or next Monday so there's plenty of time to get it in and try it out before I leave on a trip up to Canada on the 10th.
