• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I need a pair of pants that I can pull over my other pants. They need to be warm, waterproof and look good. :D Got any recommendations?

You were doing good until you got to the looking good part, unless you figure the Pillsbury Doughboy is hot. LOL I like the motorcycle overpants (Tourmaster, FirstGear, Olympia, Aerostitch, etc.), either with or without insulating liners. Pretty waterproof, easy to put on and off, and add needed windblocking and warmth. They will not put you on the cover of Gentleman's Quarterly, however. As a second choice, you might try Stone Lake leather bibs. http://www.stonelakeleatherworks.com/bibs.htm A few guys I know swear by them, and they have a rugged "mountain man" appearance.

Check Ski-doo.com. Waterproof, windproof, and breathable. Pick out bibs

or just pants. They are lightweight and of good quality.

I'll second Scotty's recommendation, at least for the Olympia Ranger 2 pants.

Besides being waterproof and having a further water resistant insulated liner, the leg zipper goes all the way to the waist, making them a snap to get on/off.

And the cargo pockets are on the thigh so you aren't sitting on whatever is in your pocket.

Lamont,
There are several good options for your need. The Tourmaster Venture pants would be a good choce. It has a removable quilted liner. FirstGear and Filedsheer also make some good cold weather pants. They also have removable liners. I'll make you a great deal on anything you're interested in. My way of saying thanks for all the great info I have gotten from this forum.

Check Cabela's. Lots of stuff to choose from and prices are good when they have what you want on sale. As I mentioned I got top of the line Gor-Tex rain gear for both of us for under $400. Of course you should have got the cold weather gear last spring!!

:agree:They work great expensive thuogh.
Harley Davidson FXRG midweight leather pants. Windproof, waterproof, armor, zips nearly to the waist, zippered pockets, suspenders. Been wearing them for about 4 cold weather seasons now. They work.

Dakota Overpants by Powertrip - not sure if they still make 'em but they are warm, waterproof and cool biker looking - they don't look dweeby or nerdy at all! :2thumbs: Also you also might try Eastern Mountain Sports - I ride w/ a thin pair of Gortex pants - rode this weekend and it was chilly - they are THIN but kept the wind out and they are Gortex so they are waterproof - they are plain - black, legs zip up to the knee so I could get a boot through. Only cost me like $40. EMS has great stuff.

Edit to add: I also rode w/ my Gerbing jacket liner - like riding in a clothes dryer - once my core was warm, I didn't need any heavy pants or gloves - I rode with mesh gloves! Can't beat the Gerbing! So thin it fits under any jacket and very warm and toasty - I only wore a thin turtleneck underneath it - that's it!

Having been an avid snowmobiler for over 30 years riding in temperatures down to -30 degrees I've used many different types of gear. The best is a good pair of lightweight weatherproof and breathable bibs either waste high or chest high. Avoid cotton and use layers of breathable insulation. The colder it is, the more layers you need. Make sure it isn't too tight because it is the air between the layers that will keep you warm. I live in Minnesota and plan on riding until the snow flies. I'm sure there will be temperatures in the single digits.

send Omar the tent maker a email not sure what that is though lol jk bro :) he make all my cloths in all the latest styles hehe

Cool weather brought back the need to look for warm overpants. Found a cheap and effective solution at Tractor Supply. Schmidt insulated work bibs. Same design as Carhart, but only $50. Waterproof canvas duck fabric with insulation for legs and chest. Full length leg zippers for easy on and off without removing boots. Bib front provides extra protection under insulated jacket. May not be the most stylish, but tested them at 42 degrees and no wind or cold air got through. They come in a full range of sizes and also have short and long lengths. Color choice is black or tan. More pockets than you can count. May not win fashion points, but wins checking account points.

Sounds like a good, practical choice. Plus you could wear them to work in the yard unlike a pair of insulated riding pants with armor.

Those interested in motorcycle type clothes-there is a pretty good sale on Teknic at New Enough.

No I am not connected with any supplier at anytime-I am just a retired old fart who still enjoys speed and bargain shopping.
