• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are the tires on the spyder motorcycle tires or car tires?

The side walls are two ply, unlike the four ply car tires of the same size. The lesser ply walls would "give" more in the cornering, allowing more roll.

I am not sure if they are softer rubber than car tires. I only got about 24,000 miles (43,000km) so I am guessing they are softer. Car tires would likely get double that.

I was contemplating Car tires instead of the OEM, but figured for under $200, Stickier tires that still last over 20K miles is a worthwhile investment.

Car tires, especially on the front, provide much better handling and cornering. For me, this easily out-weighs the stickiness factor. For some of us, the OEM tires had a pronounced tendency for excessive wear on the inboard side of both front tires.

Just wondering what you switched to in the front and are you still using OEM on the rear/

I'm guessing that car tires are going to be quite a bit heavier... does that have a negative impact on handling? (The unsprung weight factor...)
 
Don't you need a softer compound at the rear to try and control all those crazeee HPs that you've stuffed under the blanket??? :roflblack:
 
I have the softest tire I can get that is reasonable for the street
Hankook ventus s r3 225/45 r15
And I can still break them loose in the first 4 gears

24,000 on front, back or both. My fronts still have a lot of tread left, but the back doesn't have much and that is at 9,000 miles.
If you got 24,000 from your back tire I think the service tech is doing some serious burnouts during test rides when I take the Spyder in for service.
