• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where in the sam hill do those rubber grommets on the lower side panels go when they pop out ? I'm missing two now. They will NOT stay in and they are not to be found on the garage floor or in the floor "pan" underneath the motor. I've found the part number to order them but have not found an online site to order them. I thought BRP would be the source, but all they give is a pick list. Do you have a source for small parts like this.

Those things can be a pain. They sometimes hang on just long enough for you to get some speed going and they jump for it. You can get some from the dealer. My standard is to use some lubricant when putting in the panels, kind of gross but spit works fine.

Try..!!

any bike shop. With a sample they may match up to bike side panel grommets. Install them with a bit of contact cement (just wet one side) and as mentioned spit on it when installing panels...

Spit is good; Lube is bad

Lubed mine when I first got it and on trip discovered oil panel missing when I stopped for gas. Those suckers cost $200! BRP later changed the grommets for some with metal embedded and once installed by dealer in mine, I've had no trouble. That particular panel takes a good pull or push to remove/install....and never any lube. I would think some dealers would have some in stock.

Glue 'em in!!!! Why didn't I think of that. I've already replaced Three of them. Thanks for the tip.

Rubber grommets

Like Chupaca said...Contact cement them in place...

I have used clear silicone on some previous bikes and on my Spyder and have not lost one since....

Ryde safe!

Found a parts house online...

I finally found a site to order parts like these grommets. They use BRP's diagrams and parts numbers. I only found one other similar site and parts prices and shipping were worse. I ordered 4 grommets, 4 of the tuflok plastic rivets and a couple of panel nuts (clips) just to have some of them on hand. The panel nuts under the lower side panels keep falling off also. Anyway, glad to find a source to order from as my dealer is quite far off to make frequent runs for small parts. I used this source:http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/2013-can-am-spyder-rt-limited-se5-body-and-accessories-front-assembly.html?partnum=705000321

As an old rider/mechanic, when you install the new grommets, zip tie them and use hi-temp grease on the plastic & grommets. Have never lost one and have used this method for over 12 years on several motorcycles. Do the same to all the grommets.
