• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It has to be remembered, Mike that the rubber compounds vary greatly between different countries (even when the makers say they are the same!). Also the material which the roads are made from plays a huge part in tire wear.

I have done 7000 miles since last November and I am pleased to say all three of my tyres have plenty of tyre tread. After close inspection of my tyres they are still like brand new. Bob does riding style make a difference to how long your tyres last?:dontknow:

I know what you're saying, and I do read lots of other threads and search for things.

I'm more interested in OJs experience as he's in the UK too so wil be riding on our roads in our conditions. Not to say someone in the US may not have experienced the exact same conditions, it's just driving in the US is quite different from over here.

For instance, roundabouts. We have them everyhere and they put a particular type of stress on the bike and tyre when exiting them fast. I've seen 2 roundabouts in all of my visits to the US. We also have a lot of tight twisty country roads, agan not that common in the US unless you live in certain states.

Cheers OJ, I'll be interested in your thoughts but from what Bruce says this will be a good choice.

I'm on 10K now but not down to wear bars yet. The Kenda has worn fairly even, not too much difference between sides and the middle.

I'm between this and the Yoko S-Drive JCThorne recommends.

Problem with the Yokos is that you can't get them in 225.....closest is 205, and we all like a wide tyre!!

If you are really making a buying decision based on less than 3/16 of an inch tread width, well ok. I do like the Toyo but they are not available in the correct size in the US.

The Yoko's actual contact patch is larger than the OEM Kenda even though the tread is approx 1/8" narrower. Its contact patch that generates traction. I can tell you from first hand experience the Yoko has significantly more traction than the Kenda.

Thanks! I didn't know that...how could I? My dealer now has the Toyo t1r so I'll have that fitted this time around and look at the Yokohama option later.
