There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. tried to order amsoil from web site rep but was expensive to ship from Calf to SC but I want to know whats is best for the spyder a full synetic blend or non full blend what ever it is called and I heard 10/40 is best so what up?

Try ordering directly from Amsoil. If you become a Preferred Member you get a pretty good discount, but it does cost $20 per year. I live near Tampa and Amsoil ships out of Orlando. I imagine they have distribution points throughout the country.

Can also check with Baja Ron... I order from him and get cases shipped out of Wichita - usually get here inside of 24 hrs.

If you can't find 5/30 full synthetic, 10/30 synthetic will work also.

I buy Amsoil motorcycle oil at the local parts store (napa). I broke down the case price to the per QT price & the parts store sells for ($11.58) the same price as Amsoil sells for + shipping. Check you local retailer.----Budro
ps---full syn.

30W oil is way too thin for the Spyders, at least for those of us in warm climates. My understanding is that BRP oil, which is packaged by Castrol, comes in 5-40 syn or 10-40 blend....even tho they don't tell you that on the carton. Many of us use Amsoil and you should definitely have a local distributor in your area you can buy from. I have one that makes selling Amsoil his full time job bout 40 miles away so I buy by the case.

In Michigan we purchased Amsoil from an auto parts store and here in Las Vegas we get it at the Amsoil distributor. I do pay the $20/year fee and since we have 4 motorcycles we go through a lot of oil.

Told by a dealer last week BRP oil Synthetic is 0-40 and the blend is 5-40.

just went to my Can Am dealer today and purchased 5 qts of Amsoil 10-40 for motorcycles. I started using it when we did the 600 mile service at Lamonts last year.

Not true, Ulflyer is correct, syn-5w-40, Blend 10w-40. At least as long as they are using Castrol as their supplier.

I would not run a 30 weight oil in the Spyder.

BRP Branded Oil

I help Chris and Tom do an oil change on Chris RT today and the BRP oil he got from our local dealer said on the bottle and jug that it was 10W40 Summer weight synthetic blend.

On the subject of oil specifically for motorcycles has anyone ever seen an indepth review of the oils available preferable from someone not selling oil?

Ride safe, spring may actually be here,

I have actually gotten great results running Valvoline 4T Motorcycle Oil which is a 10w-40 Full Synthetic. I have been running this in my 2009 GS SE5 for a while now with no issues whatsoever. I can get it at Advanced Auto Parts near me for $9 a quart.

Just in case someone may be interested in another option.

I only run 30 in a lawnmower engine. Except for my Kohler which requires 10w30.

10w-40 amsoil here...have 15000 on Spyder...oil looks new when I change it at recommended mileage...

Nothing butevoo.jpg EVOO for me. Lubricates good and smells great when it burns. Plus, its all natural and wont hurt the environment.

Nothing wrong with Valvoline; I ran it once in mine just to see how it fared against Amsoil which I'd been having lab tested and it did shear just a tad more, but not enough to get excited about. It can usually be found in Walmarts too. It would be a good oil to remember when on a trip and you need some to top off.

FWIW, I know some folks run their oil 6K or more, and I suppose different motors can produce different results, but based on tests I've had done on mine, its pretty much used up (sheared down to lower viscosity) at 4000-4500. I'm going to continue to change every 4K.

Thanks for the info on when the oil is basically used up, that is very good to know.
