• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

oil reservoir gasket

OK... just completed the 3500 mile oil change and other than sure I would snap off the drain plugs removing them, it went fine. (Who tightens those things???) Anyway, the copper gasket (p/n 420250640) fit the crankcase drain plug fine, but no way it would slip over the plug on the oil reservoir. Had to re-use the old one. Anybody else seen this?

I re-used the solid copper washers that came with the engine 2 times after RideNow serviced it on the 600 mile check. I don't think they used the right parts. If you look at the "shop talk" page of this forum, I posted a link to the IPC for the spyder. The engine drain and the reservoir drain washers/gaskets are not the same. One is a crush washer.
42025640 is for the engine and 705500506 is for the reservoir...Pg 41,42 and pg 26,28.

Thanks! (I now have downloaded the IPC to my PC.) I "assumed" (and we all know what that means) that the instructions in the "How to" section of this forum were correct. It indicates that the two washers are the same part number, so that's what I bought. (Does that mean that we have evidence that Lamonster is human?)

Incidently, I got them at the Ridenow on Ina. Obviously they don't know what they need for an oil change either. Have you taken yours in for the 6K check yet? I'm a bit leery of the Ina location, but the 22nd St location is really inconvenient.

Scared to death...every time I go in, they ask me when I'm going to bring it in. They haven't pursued any of the problems I have experienced, but they want to service my machine...still the only Spyder they have sold and they have yet to work on one except mine.

Swell... At least I have 3000 miles or so until I have to take it in. By then maybe they'll have some experience. Either that or I'll have to trailer it down to 22nd... or up to Chandler. :dontknow:
