• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Oil Pressure ????

I have installed a digital oil pressure guage on my 2012 RT-L.
My question is: What are the numbers I should be looking for ie: highs and lows.
Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I do not know if numbers are published. Am guessing that a "normal" area will pop up every time you operate the :spyder2:. Deviation from that, would indicate an issue. Similar to the number of bars or place on the dial for the temperature.

Some run a little hotter than others--but maintain a "normal" range.

I will keep watching for actual numbers posted here. There are some very good mechanical persons who will have that information.

I have had a top quality gauge installed on my 2012 RT since the month after I bought it.

Over 30,000 miles of driving my gauge registers between 55-60 psi at cruising speed and that is between 4,000 and 5,500 rpm.

At idle (1350 rpm) when hot it rides at 20 psi.

Range....

on a 2012 RS....998 cc engine....
1400 Rpm's
Min....10 psi
Normal....22psi
Max....43.5psi

5000 Rpm's
Min....51psi
Normal....61psi
Max....80psi

Should be the same for yours...

A good rule of thumb that we always used is 10psi per 1000rpms minimum.

That is a lot higher than the 1330
900 rpm =8.7 psi
4000rpm = 58 psi
I have a digital gauge [but it was a cheap one]
It reads 45 psi at 4000 rpm [this is what it was brand new]
and 2 psi at 900 rpm
I use it as a reference point
The idiot light is set at 2psi-5psi
go figure
